Special birthday breakfast!

It's DD's birthday soon, she'll be 9.

I want to do her a nice birthday breakfast as I'll be at work through the day Smile

What do your DC request on birthdays? I do have some ideas but wondering if there's anything I'd not thought of! And I know I could ask her but would like it to be a surprise.

Thanks!

I make DD something she likes out of Pancakes like a rabbit or a unicorn. She is always impressed. Not sure anyone else would be.

Cake?
Ice cream?
Chocolate?

What does DD like? What's her favourite food? Or what is she usually not allowed?

Birthday breakfast doesn't have to be traditional breakfast food. How about spaghetti bolognese? Grin

Recently I did Japanese soufflé pancakes and they were amazing! Served with bacon and maple syrup. Some fruit.... So good

Not my DC as too little, but my friend does things like this for birthdays:

Hot chocolate with marshmallows
Freshly baked pain au chocolat and danish pastries
Pancakes with different toppings like cream, fruit and chocolate sauce
Milkshakes

With a decorated table, balloons etc.
Her kids love chocolate and sweet things but their breakfasts are usually super healthy so she lets them have all the sweet things. I’ll probably to similar when DD old
enough.

Pretty table, posy of flowers, pile of birthday cards to open, balloons decorating chair.

Usually healthy breakfast Monday to Saturday here so birthday breakfasts tend to be sweet.

If it’s a weekday we have pancakes, berries and yogurt/honey/nutella plus mandatory sprinkles!

If it’s a weekend we go out for brunch!

MalFunkshun · 02/08/2021 14:06

I do ham and Gruyere crepes for special occasions, followed by a ‘pudding’ crepe (usually Nutella or berries and whipped cream).

American pancakes cut into stars is also popular or a blueberry focaccia!

Dd (9) always asks for smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels and chocolate milk!

dancemom · 02/08/2021 14:26

We go out for birthday breakfasts, just a local cafe usually but makes it a feel special

Mine thought I was a wizard when I made messages appear in the toast - use biscuit cutters but 'lightly score' only - don't cut all the way through.

ActonSquirrel · 02/08/2021 14:29

Strawberry and cream on pancakes

stopknockingonmydoor · 02/08/2021 14:41

Some good ideas, thanks all!

I'm thinking either homemade crepes or shop bought pancakes and waffles and various toppings Smile shop bought means I get to enjoy my morning with her (and my breakfast Grin

I'd want hot chocolate and croissant/pain au chocolat to dip in.

Sisisimone · 02/08/2021 14:47

We tend to order in waffles or pancakes. Seems a bit more of a treat for them to order and have them delivered

Imapotato · 02/08/2021 14:48

Pancakes or croissants and pain au chocolate? That’s what we would normally do for a birthday breakfast. Expect for DH where it would be bacon all the way.

TheBestCandidateByFar · 02/08/2021 16:04

Pancakes and a chocolate fountain
