Hi all

I'll try and keep this short.. we have recently moved areas to be back in the area my 11 year old goes to school (going in to year 7 in sept) so all his friends are here so this is the first time he's been able to play out when he wants (within reason)

But my god I am struggling- we used to live 25 mins away so had an hours car journey together each day and weekends were me either arranging things with his friends - swimming bowling etc so we we're together a lot..

Now he's out from 10 ish till tea time playing with his friends loving life which is the exact reason we moved back to this area but I miss him doesn't help that I'm off for the summer and so I'm just in waiting for him to come back 😏 which is pathetic but never really had hobbies etc because I never wanted to miss out on things so my free time was spent ferrying him around and doing activities with him.

Any advice on how to get over myself would be so welcome 🤗

At least you recognise it. I remember when I was about 12, I had a friend and her Mum used to actually BEG her not to come ice skating with me on Saturday mornings. Nutty cow she was.

"Please don't go...stay with me..."

You obviously need something else to focus on. Thought about getting a dog?

Ha definitely recognise it and haven't mentioned it to my ds (how could you abandon me child!!! 😂)

No to a dog we have cats I think it's probably just because I'm off in the holidays and have nothing to fill my time - Jesus I am an actual loser!!

I also think it's just a massive change from "mum can you..." to see ya mum ring me when teas ready 🤦‍♀️

I worried he spent too much time online at the old house and now he's just gone I feel ridiculous!

Mine are 16 and 13 and when he hits his teens he'll need you all over again in the most annoying way! They're like energy vampires...sucking all your spare time to chat!
