Spotted a few false widows around the house lately which I know is to be expected in warmer months. I also know they aren't particularly dangerous, and we don't have much clutter etc for them to lurk behind, but we do have very small DC and toy boxes, and I really don't like spiders much though try to treat them with respect

Today I saw hundreds of tiny baby spiders on the ceiling corners around the front door. What can I do and where else might they have laid eggs? I don't know if they are false widows but I really don't want hundreds of spiders in my house either and I honestly feel quite ill.

I have tolerance for spiders in my home but false widows (and real ones if we had them!!) are not allowed to squat. I will catch and release if I find them, but sounds like if you have babies you might need to take more brutal action - either hoover where you find them (I’m not a fan either but false widows can still bite!) and use a repellent, there’s loads out there but we’ve previously used indorex which usually covers fleas etc to great success.

Do you have any pets? I use Raid spray before the start of spider season around the edges of rooms and door frames. It chuffing stinks and you may want to take the kids out for the day but it lasts for up to 4 weeks.

I feel bad as its brutal way to deal with them but I am extremely scare of spiders, with the exception of cellar spiders, but only because they eat the big buggers.

Thanks. I might have to but I'm really reluctant to use insecticide around the kids - I guess if it's on the ceiling though they won't come into contact at all

I've hoovered reluctantly but now don't know what to do with the hoover, will they crawl out?

I'm being utterly ridiculous but I feel totally sick and dirty

If there are other egg sacs around where will the baby spiders go? Will we have loads of adult spiders from those that survive babyhood or will most of them go outside?

I feel so on edge and going to hoover everywhere in the house now

Just get a cobwebber and do the webs and areas the babies are in and follow it up with a good squirt of spray, won’t hurt anyone.

No cobwebs anywhere that I can see but... more babies today! Argh
