Our oven is broken and I need a new kitchen which won't be happening for a few months, the electrician said he could wire in an oven and we couid use it on the counter top is that safe?

If it’s just for a few months why not use one of those cheap benchtop ovens? It can then also be used in any other room if necessary for a week or however long while the kitchen is actually being done. I have a large under bench oven which I would use a handful of times a year, generally when entertaining. Otherwise I use the benchtop job. I think ours is 20L or something and they are cheap as chips.

Depends. Read the manual for the oven, I think it may have details about clearance from cabinets etc, including the bottom and/or requirements about what materials can be in contact with it.

I'd probably want to put some kind of heat resistant mat down.

What current set up do you have for an oven? If a new kitchen is months away, your side oven could end up staying a lot longer than intended. If it was a matter of a few weeks while you waited on the order/fitters etc., then temporary. But if its longer, the kitchen could be delayed and you have your counter oven for a while.

Could you get a basic oven, like your current, second hand - fb?, and fit it properly. Even if it's removed 3/4 months down the line (resell back on fb etc).
