Never been to Edinburgh and i have a tendency to worry unnecessarly about outings ect... so sorry if these questions seem a bit ott.
I am taking ds10 for a dayout to the camera obscura and castle. We will be getting the train to Edinburgh waverly.
my question is this. is it walking distace from the station to the castle or will i require a taxi. my Mobility isnt great and uphill, long walk ect would require a taxi. i don't want to waste the drivers time if it is only a short journey.
are taxis easy to get at the station would i need to book one.
any advice would be much appreciated.
my biggest fear is getting a taxi for a short journy and wasting the drivers time, i am a bit socially akward and have been in similar situation before when i didnt know where i was going in glasgow and it wasnt a long journey and the driver was extremely pissed at me.

Thanks in advance for any info

It's a short distance, but its up a big hill, I also have mobility issues and I couldn't walk it.
There are taxis at the station, and if they get huffy which they shouldn't, no matter, you'll never have to see them again.

Agree with IHaveBrilloHair: it's about a 10 minute walk, but very steep hill. Don't worry about huffy taxi drivers, they probably make a better fare out of a short journey anyway!

If you have mobility issues it will be difficult.

A taxi is probably the simplest way. I don’t think it’s to short. Or you could get a bus a couple of stops from the bottom of the Mound. You can pay with a contactless card. It’s a flat 5 minute walk to get to the bus stop from the station, escalators take you up to Princes St, turn left and walk along Princes St then turn left again after the art gallery, the bus stop is at the bottom of the hill.
Or you could get an open top bus tour ticket, which has a stop outside Waverley and several on the Royal Mile.
Walking up the Mound is a killer!

I’m not sure what the taxi situation is and Waverley now, I think they are on Market St, there should be plenty available.

@Chemenger thank you for your message i think i will just get a taxi up to the castle.

Im sure the drivers will have had hires from the station to the castle before so probably wont be annoyed.
