7 weeks to get into this dress…is it possible?

Popsicales · 01/08/2021 21:19

Due to be a bridesmaid in 7 weeks. The picture shows what the dress looks like currently. That’s breathing out! If I breathe in and straighten up, the zip meets but doesn’t zip up because the fabric of the waist band is thicker.

Just looking for opinions on whether I can get this to zip up in 7 weeks?!

This dress is a size 16. I have piled on the weight but if I’m disciplined, I usually lose it quickly.

If the zip meets already I reckon you can do it

FelicityBeedle · 01/08/2021 21:22

I would say you can, a decent diet and some good Spanx and you’ll be in it

Redtartanshoes · 01/08/2021 21:22

Potentially could loose a stone and a half in 7 weeks if you really screw the nut which is well over a dress size. You’d probably need to lose that to make it fit comfortably IYKWIM, otherwise it’s gonna be tight all day, uncomfortable and risk the zip bursting.

Shapwear will help also/

I’d cut out carbs and sugar, walk as much as you can, drink a load of water

Totally possible if you are disciplined. You might be able to zip it now if you got one of the 'wear your own bra' firm control slip from M&S

Eleoura · 01/08/2021 21:24

I'd get a basque, corset or even try it with a minimiser bra. A keto diet might shift it quick too.

MerryMarigold · 01/08/2021 21:25

Yes, you can do it. I would:
a. Cut processed sugar and all snacks other than fruit/ veg
b. Eat main meal at lunch
c. Eat something light like salad, soup etc. in evening.

I bet it falls off you. It's great to have a goal!

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/08/2021 21:26

Yes, of course you can. 1500 calories a day and plenty of exercise.

Hope you’re not offended if I make an alternative suggestion, though.

You have a lovely figure. I’m guessing you’re quite tall? You don’t look like you need to loose any weight. Maybe just the next size up? I ignore size labels, they vary wildly. I just buy what fits.

Enjoy, anyway Smile

FiloPasty · 01/08/2021 21:26

You can totally do it! I need to lose weight too, do you want a buddy?

PragmaticWench · 01/08/2021 21:26

I've just lost seven kg in five weeks by sticking to a low saturated fat diet (need to reduce my cholesterol) and using intermittent fasting. I've not been hungry and feel much more awake.

daisydalrymple · 01/08/2021 21:27

I’ve been doing weight watchers for five weeks, I’ve lost a stone so far., - I’m not suggesting you join WW, just that it works for me and if you find the discipline then yes., you can definitely lose the weight sensibly in 7 weeks, whichever way suits you best.

Popsicales · 01/08/2021 21:35

I definitely need new underwear so I will get some shape wear.

Thank you @MrsSkylerWhite. I am tall, my top half is not too bad shape wise, but I carry weight below my belly button! I definitely need to lose some to be healthy. I’ve piled it on because I started a demanding training course and stopped running. And my diet is rubbish! I’m touching 17 stone Blush

@FiloPasty I would love a Buddy! I’ll be posting back here with my results.

Feeling very motivated now! I think I’ll try a mixture of low carb/ 16:8.

Fair enough, you know how you feel. Gobsmacked, though. You look lovely in that pic.

onceagainaspredicted · 01/08/2021 21:39

You can do it! I had this exact problem recently. Dressing fitting one month before the wedding and the zip wouldn't go past my waistband. Started eating healthy food and counting calories - with a break for the hen party - and it was fine on the wedding day.

The dress was still tighter than I would've liked but my diet had went to fuck when the wedding was postponed and then when we went into lockdown, so I was just happy it fitted.

Sisisimone · 01/08/2021 21:40

Just get it taken out a bit now. Would be an absolute nightmare to get near the day and not be able to do the zip up.

Hugoslavia · 01/08/2021 21:50

Yes definitely. I have lost 1stone in 5 weeks before when I have out my mind to it. So I reckon that is doable. 10lbs is one dress size. Aim for 2.5 - 3lbs a week.diet is way more important than exercise. Up your fruit and veg. That will definitely help.

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/08/2021 21:55

Definitely, I'm using my fitness pal and finding it fairly easy. I bit of exercise and it would be dropping off.

I recommended a combination of Exante and a food tracking app. Good luck

Lovewineandchocolate · 01/08/2021 22:32

You have mentioned 16/8, so maybe push it to 18/6. If you combine that with keto, you really shouldn't have any problems dropping a dress size.

Backtobacktheyfacedeachother · 25/08/2021 16:57

How’s it going? @Popsicales

ripplestitchblank · 25/08/2021 17:09

Doable!
Would love to hear how you're getting on

NotYourCupOfTea · 25/08/2021 17:50

Yes! Looks like a crappy zip (same as a dress I had) you just need someone to tug it up and it would fit now I reckon

Polkadots2021 · 25/08/2021 18:01

PT here, OP. It's blatantly possible. Do the following until D Day:

  • cut out wheat
  • cut out dairy
  • cut out alcohol
  • no takeout
  • eat every 3 hours, little but often
  • Take multivit, omega, probiotic in mornings
  • take multimineral evenings
  • workout whenever you can
  • every small meal needs carb, protein, fibre and good fat source
  • one cheat meal a week, eat whatever you like

There's no way you won't do it, if you follow all that.

YogaLite · 25/08/2021 18:16

@Popsicales, please update, hope u have reached your target?

Popsicales · 26/08/2021 11:53

Hi everyone. I’ve lost 5lb so far but I’ve not been as strict as I should have, as I had a holiday in this time. Now being really strict.

I’m going to try on the dress on Sunday and see if there’s any progress! Still got until 17th September to get it zipped up.
