Is there any police officers on here?
Asking a question for my friend who is stressing out as she can’t ask the career workers till tomorrow 😂… after passing your fitness and medical does anyone know how long after passing you start your training?! It’s a weird question I know! 😂

It varies as to when they have a batch of enough people for an intake. Could be weeks could be longer.

Funnylittlefloozie · 01/08/2021 13:42

Piece of string question... it entirely depends on which force she's joined, and their training cohort plans. I've known people get a two week start date, and others get a two month date. Its all a bit random.

Daisymae15 · 01/08/2021 13:42

If she is stressing over this, god help her in the job.

Funnylittlefloozie · 01/08/2021 13:43

Why is she stressing out, though? Has she given in notice at her previous job (hope not!)?

Millionaireinthemaking · 01/08/2021 13:44

I said this! 😂 think it’s child care arrangements she’s stressing over haha!

Well done to her though. She must be pleased.

10 years ago my child had to wait 18 months to train at Hendon and signed up to an agency while they waited.

It can depend on when they have a course date (need to plan trainers, officer safety training, public order training and so on) as well as plan the whole initial two years with university as it's a degree now, and also background checks, these can take a while particularly if the applicant has lived or does live in other force areas as they have to ask those forces for internal system checks too, the background checks aren't just a simple DBS.

I was given a weeks notice to start.....

SoddingWeddings · 01/08/2021 17:23

I waited a month, but it's absolutely dependent on so many factors - teaching staff, availability of training rooms, numbers of applicants etc. Covid has affected lots of things that relate to this.

She will need her childcare absolutely nailed down - remember she'll be doing Mon-Fri 9-5 or thereabouts for a few months, but after that it's anyone's guess and you do NOT get off on time just because you have kids to pick up.

amylou8 · 01/08/2021 17:32

As long as there's regular intakes there should be some flexibility as to which one she joins.

ShowOfHands · 01/08/2021 17:36

It took DH 2.5yrs from application to appointment and between the final stage (medical) and training, it took 9 months of waiting.

SIL only waited 9 weeks.

I think it depends upon many factors!

dad11122 · 01/08/2021 17:41

For me it was about 8 months.
