Places to stay near Longleat?

We want to go to Longleat for DS’ birthday in September. Of course it being fairly last minute Center Parcs is fully booked (and extortionately expensive for a weekend away anyway!) and I have no idea where else to try. ILs are only 45 mins away so we could stay with them but we were hoping to do something a bit more special for a night or two.

Happy to camp, would just like somewhere a bit special/different/exciting to accommodate 2 adults, a 10mo, and a 3yo. Any suggestions?

How far would you be happy to travel to the park from wherever you stay?

A few years ago we stayed in Noad Coach House in Frome. There were several buildings to choose from. Lovely welcome package and a great place to stay self catering.
I’ll see if I can find it.

It’s on several websites.

Botany farm does glamping tents but it isn't cheap and I don't know when they close for the season. They have a bus cafe there that does meals, snacks and drinks, hang on I'll find the link.

We stayed at the Bath Arms Hotel, right next to Longleat’s back gate. Very nice stay.

Although Premier Inns aren't particularly special, there are a couple in Salisbury, which would be a nice place to spend a day or so. Unless your in-laws live there and you've already 'done' Salisbury? Grin

At Horningsham? I think it's being done up, not sure if it's reopened yet.

There's a TravelLodge at the Bath Road roundabout that's close to Longleat.
