Anyone converted from an iPhone to something else?

Basically, I really like how other phones that aren't an iPhone work. Like the layout, way the phone operates etc.

There's just one thing that keeps me buying iPhones throughout the years - The camera.

Hear me out on this one. I have an iPhone 7, nothing fancy. My DH has a very new Samsung. Much bigger an upgrade than my iPhone 7.

But I think his camera is CRAP! Just isn't good. I dislike the image quality. I can't explain why, again, but the image seems a bit blurred and grainy. It doesn't look like an iPhone photo.

Maybe nobody else has noticed this but I can really tell if a picture is taken with an iPhone or an Android, even the very fancy androids.

Has anyone converted to an Android without this issue?

My iPhone 7 is now broken (I drove over it!). So I want to get an upgrade (pay for it upfront) but an iPhone 11 is £500 so they're getting even more expensive

Thank you

I have an iPhone 11 and dh has a newish Samsung galaxy. His photo quality is much better than mine.

Could be the model/spec your dh’s phone, rather than just Samsung’s/android in general.

The reason I stick with iPhones is because when I upgrade all my stuff and photos are stored on the cloud. If I were to switch to android I’d lose all that. I have 10 years worth of photos on the cloud!

I switched to androids for a few years and recently went back to iPhones. I miss the way you can personalise stuff on the Android, and I'm not too sure on photo quality either.

One thing to note though, the mumsnet app on android is crap. Really crap!

I converted to a much cheaper phone, an old model LG. I don't use the camera that much.

But I wanted to suggest that you'd get very used to how a different phone works. Everyone I know who's switched away from iPhone used to find non-iPhones very tricky to use, but know find them as instinctive as iPhones.

I had a Samsung Galaxy S10plus. Just switched to an iPhone 12 mini and the camera is significantly poorer. Would highly recommend the Galaxy. I bought mine refurbished at a brilliant price from the Argos eBay outlet.

I moved from iPhone to Samsung android.
Better phone all round.
Halved my phone bill.

We're all Samsung in this household.

Eminybob, I back up all photos to Google Photos and can access them on both Android and Apple devices.

I’ve been an Apple user for most of the past 10 years. I did flirt with an Android for a couple of years (can’t remember which one now) but it just didn’t flow as well.

I haven’t spent a fortune on apps, but between the apps and the storage as the fact it all syncs with my iPad etc etc - moving away is unattractive. Which is of course the business model (and I hate it).

They have the wrong Samsung. The camera is and always has been significantly better on the latest galaxy s than an iphone.
I've got an s10 and 2 friends of mine will always ask me to take pics when out on my phone as the pics on their iphones come out shit in comparison.
The s21 out now is even better.

I have a OnePlus. Brilliant phones and half the price of iPhones. I used to be an apple user but became fed up of the lag and need to.replace every 2 years.
No problems with this phone. Love it.

I have a One Plus. It's a great phone and the screen is very tough. I had to fix my Apple devices a few times when they cracked and with my One Plus and Samsung - never and they're forever sliding off the couch.

I have an old ( as in design) I-phone 6 and my OH and DS's Sony's are much better photo quality

My phone is only 8 months old and the battery is fucked and I'm struggling with I-phone constantly telling me I have no storage so have parred my Apps to a minimum

How do you store 10,000 photos on a cloud, do you pay extra for it ?

Tablow · 01/08/2021 09:13

I went from an iPhone 6s to a cheap as chips honor phone. So glad, it does everything well and was only £140
