39 weeks and tested positive for covid

Hi ladies, the caption says it all. Ive just tested positive for covid and I'm really panicking. I started to get symptoms thursday but put it down to the last few weeks of pregnancy. Wasnt until yesterday when I felt really bad I booked myself a test for this morning. It came back positive this evening. Has anyone had covid while being this far along? Did use cope ok? Was your baby fine? I've everything running through my head right now. Theres no sign of baby yet and I'm booked in for a sweep on the 12th of August (which my isolation will be over) but now that I've got this I bet he comes🙈

Sorry to hear that...very unlucky timing. Are you fully vaccinated? I hope it turns out to be nothing more than mild symptoms for you, and that baby is able to hang on for another ten days or so.

BuntyCollocks · 31/07/2021 23:18

You need to call your midwife. My trust is putting covid positive women over 24 weeks on 10 days of blood thinners and getting a growth scan after isolation. Please monitor baby’s movements very carefully. If you are at all worried, call labour ward.

FelixBrown · 31/07/2021 23:22

It's very unfortunate. It's not like there was anything you could do to prevent this. If only someone had invented a vaccine or something

How unhelpful. OP call your midwife team for some reassurance, and get plenty of rest, they will have contingency plans for this happening, hope all goes well for you
dreamersdown · 31/07/2021 23:34

@FelixBrown silly comment, I was double jabbed and still got it. It’s well known that vaccinated people are still able to contract it, although the risk is lower.

OP - so sorry to hear this. Give your midwife a call, they will have plans and procedures in place to look after you and the little one. Best of luck!

For all we know, the OP may be fully vaccinated. And even if she isn't, there is nothing that she can do about that now.
Aquamarine1029 · 31/07/2021 23:35

You need to be very, very vigilant. You are extremely vulnerable right now.

AlexaShutUp · 31/07/2021 23:37

I agree with the suggestion to call your midwife. You need to get proper medical advice, but try not to panic.

Maybe op has had her vaccination?

No advice, but hoping baby holds on for you a little while longer.

sherrystrull · 31/07/2021 23:39

I agree to ring your midwife or 111 to ask for advice. I know the maternity unit at my local hospital was always available to chat about concerns.

Try not to worry though.

Don't be a dick.

OP that is rubbish timing for you. Let your midwife know and get plenty of rest! Fingers crossed baby stays put for 10 more days.

Poppyyoung18 · 31/07/2021 23:40

I'm not vaccinated unfortunately, I was waiting until baby was born to get my jabs. I called my midwife and she really calmed me down, told me to monitor movements etc and if I go into labour while still positive there is a ward for covid pregnant ladies and I'll be well looked after. She said to be on bed rest, drink plenty of fluids and take paracetamol. It feels like a really bad cold atm so I'm hoping I havent got it to bad. Thanks ladies for the kind comments...and as for that one comment, there was just no need x

I'm not vaccinated unfortunately, I was waiting until baby was born to get my jabs why would you do that? You have put yourself and your baby at risk. The vaccine is safe in pregnancy.

I'm also unvaccinated. This was a decision based on conversations with my GP and scan appts. Op didn't come here to be put down

I hope you don't have it too bad either @Poppyyoung18. Some people do just feel like they have a bit of a cold. Hope you're one of them! Thanks

The OP can't change her vaccination status at this point.

OP, well done for calling the midwife, it's good that you're feeling calmer. It's natural to be frightened in a situation like this, but chances are you'll be fine and you'll be very well looked after by the NHS whatever happens. Hopefully you'll feel better in the morning after some sleep.

You know you still get covid with the vaccine. What hideous comment
PurpleDaisies · 31/07/2021 23:52

Whether the op is vaccinated or not cannot be changed now. It’s horrible to come on to a thread like this just to put the boot in. Horrible.

Glad you’ve had some reassurance and hope that you have a mild course. If things change, seek more medical advice in real life earlier rather than later.

AlexaShutUp · 31/07/2021 23:52

@FelixBrown

No, there was need. Maybe other women who read this won't be as stupid as you. As *@AlexaShutUp* said, there's nothing you can do about it now, but others still can
@FelixBrown, I'm very pro-vax but have some fucking empathy. The OP is very heavily pregnant and scared. Now is not the time for point scoring.
misssunshine4040 · 31/07/2021 23:55

Some pregnant women don't want the vaccine during pregnancy, their prerogative.
This virus has brought out the absolute worst of humanity it makes me so sad.

I'm vaccinated and caught covid recently, what twatty comment do you have for me?
PaddleBoardingMomma · 01/08/2021 00:02

Honestly it's people like that and their nasty judge comments that probably put people off having it who were on the fence. Absolute pile of twatty fuckwittery coming out of some folk on here, no empathy!

Pommes · 01/08/2021 00:05

Wishing you well, OP, and a safe delivery. Have you got an oximeter at home? They're sold on Amazon Prime and might be reassuring for you.

The OP started this thread for support. Let's just keep it to that, shall we?

OP, fingers crossed for a very speedy recovery and a safe delivery!Flowers
