Hi ladies, the caption says it all. Ive just tested positive for covid and I'm really panicking. I started to get symptoms thursday but put it down to the last few weeks of pregnancy. Wasnt until yesterday when I felt really bad I booked myself a test for this morning. It came back positive this evening. Has anyone had covid while being this far along? Did use cope ok? Was your baby fine? I've everything running through my head right now. Theres no sign of baby yet and I'm booked in for a sweep on the 12th of August (which my isolation will be over) but now that I've got this I bet he comes🙈

Oh my thank you all for having my back 🙈😂 I didnt think it would raise so much hate. Thankfully I've only mild symptoms and feeling so much better this morning than I have over the last few days. Midwife was brilliant and really reassured me lastnight. I choose not to have the vaccine as there hasnt been much research on it for pregnant woman over the last year. But only a week ago they have urged us to get it, but I was holding off for the sake of a few more weeks (maybe a selfish thing to do) but no matter what I was getting vaccinated after little one was born and always was going to getting vaccinated after birth. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the reassurance and having my back 💕 means alot xx

My friend got it in her last week also op.
The baby stayed put until her after her isolation and arrived the day after, baby and mother were absolutely fine.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!

oscarandelliesdad · 01/08/2021 08:27

Wishing you a speedy recovery and safe delivery op. Although midwife has said bed rest m, I would watch out for staying supine for too long at a time. Both for baby and for your breathing. There are some good physio videos on YouTube that recommend positions to try when you have covid. When I had it covid I found child's pose really helped me breathe more easily and opened up my chest. Hello ladies I'm currently pregnant 22 weeks, over the news it showing and pushing for pregnant women to get covid vaccinated. Well I've done my research and asked about 4 different types of salts listed in the vaccine. I then called 4 different pharmacy to ask if I could take any of these compounds they all said 'NO' it will not be suitable for mum and baby this could effect placenta, growth, and mum's blood circulation! I was shocked to hear this news. Before taking this vaccine you need to check each compound as they have put things in not knowing if you're allergic to these.
I asked the pharmacy about monobasic potassium 1 of the salts
Please go and check for yourself

How much if the vaccine are you expecting to injest?

Babdoc · 01/08/2021 08:47

10% of unvaccinated pregnant women who catch Covid in the last trimester will be seriously ill and require hospital admission. The problems are worsened by the expanded uterus compressing the lung bases and reducing lung volume.
However, OP, that also means that you have a 90% chance of NOT needing admission, so the statistics are very much in your favour!
I’d advise any pregnant women reading this to get vaccinated before they reach that stage - vaccination reduces both the risk of catching Covid and the severity of the infection if you still do get it.

Babdoc · 01/08/2021 08:50

hattmancockk, you do realise there is massively more potassium in a banana than a dose of vaccine?! Grin

Lightbul · 01/08/2021 08:51

@Lumelcih don’t be ridiculous the amount in the vaccine is so minuscule it’s not going to have an impact.
There are worse pollutants in drinking water/the air you breathe walking down a street but those risks are deemed acceptable?
Hope you feel better soon OP.

OK snowflake

ChannelJackieWeaver · 01/08/2021 08:59

@FelixBrown and @MyDcAreMarvel inital advice was not to get the vaccine with some midwifes and GP's still not encouraging it. Its a very stressful dilemma for pregnant women.
Take care OP.

ToomuchHeat · 01/08/2021 09:04

Hi OP glad you've turned a corner. I know some trusts are giving pregnant women oximeters to keep an eye on their own oxygen levels

eandz13 · 01/08/2021 09:11

@PaddleBoardingMomma beautiful response Grin

Sorry I was quoting someone else there😉

Pipsquiggle · 01/08/2021 09:26

Hi OP hope you are OK.

Glad you've got in touch with your midwife, she will have dealt with this before and tell you what you need to do.

My DSis is a midwife and she had 3 covid positive mums give birth last week - all doing well.

Fieldings15 · 01/08/2021 09:30

Good luck OP, most likely you will have it mildly. PP suggestion of getting a pulse oximeter off Amazon is a good one though because in rare cases people don't realise how ill they are, and it's a good way of measuring how your body is coping. Also while the timing is less than ideal, at least the baby will be born at full term if for whatever reason you needed to be induced or have a c section. Xx

FTEngineerM · 01/08/2021 09:34

I feel like @FelixBrown is being a little dramatic.

I am 34 weeks pregnant and my appointment for my second jab is when I’m 38 weeks pregnant. I can’t really do anything about the fact my age bracket and area mean the vaccine is rolled out in this way. Do you suggest I move to a different area to get it sooner? Since that’s the only variable I can change out of the two.

GoldBar · 01/08/2021 09:46

It's very unfortunate. It's not like there was anything you could do to prevent this. If only someone had invented a vaccine or something

What idiots some people are Hmm.

The advice on pregnant women getting the vaccine has evolved over time. It has changed from "don't" to "probably do but only certain vaccines" to (only in the past week or so) "absolutely do, do do!" I have one pregnant friend who was advised by her doctor not to get vaccinated until after the first trimester and she's now wondering what to do.

Is it any wonder that some pregnant women are confused about what they should be doing or struggling to keep up with the changes in guidance? And yet some people on here enjoy sticking the boot in...

I'm sorry, OP... no advice but hope everything works out fine for you Flowers.

Hi all

This thread has been derailed into a bunfight - please can we move on now, and keep things civil? Thanks.

A huge % of pregnant women won’t have been vaccinated yet simply due to age. Most pregnancies will be for 18-40 year olds. Seeing as vaccine brackets are 35-40, 30-35, under 30 loads will have only just had one vaccine or just booked vaccine if under 30

Amaterasux · 01/08/2021 10:20

A huge % of pregnant women haven't been vaccinated yet because the guidance only recently changed and many areas have not run a catch up programme for pregnant women as they have done for other groups.

Pregnant but Screwed have been campaigning massively on this front.

Hemingwaycat · 01/08/2021 10:53

I hope you’re ok OP. Keep an eye on your breathing and monitor baby’s movements, most women are fine even at this stage.

Please May I ask how you got on with this? Did you make it out of isolation before you had baby and were you allowed a birthing partner? My current situation 😞
