Hi ladies, the caption says it all. Ive just tested positive for covid and I'm really panicking. I started to get symptoms thursday but put it down to the last few weeks of pregnancy. Wasnt until yesterday when I felt really bad I booked myself a test for this morning. It came back positive this evening. Has anyone had covid while being this far along? Did use cope ok? Was your baby fine? I've everything running through my head right now. Theres no sign of baby yet and I'm booked in for a sweep on the 12th of August (which my isolation will be over) but now that I've got this I bet he comes🙈

There has been none , no help or guidance whatsoever with regards to advising pregnant women about the vaccine until this week.

Midwife passes you to Gp who passes you to consultant who passes you to GP WHO PASSES you to 119 who passes you back to midwife.

Op thinking of you.

hattmancockk · 01/08/2021 00:22

Shame there isn't a vaccine for narrow minded, uniformed people hey.

HitsAndMrs · 01/08/2021 00:32

@FelixBrown

It's very unfortunate. It's not like there was anything you could do to prevent this. If only someone had invented a vaccine or something
The vaccine doesn't prevent covid for God sake. It makes the symptoms less severe, doesn't make you immune.

Wow, there are some horrible, horrible comments on here.

So sorry OP, that your thread has been derailed like this. Hope you manage to get some rest Flowers

KitKatKong · 01/08/2021 00:34

Wishing you well and safe arrival of baby. Ring the hospital MAT unit with any concerns/ you don't need any extra anxiety. Take care

JustLoveYourselfALittle · 01/08/2021 00:38

Hope you don't feel too ill And baby arrives safe.

And so what if she hasn't had the vaccine? I know of 9 people now who have recently had covid. ALL ARE VACCINATED some 1st and 2nd dose. 2 of which have been hospitalised who have both had both vaccines.

Themeparklover · 01/08/2021 00:42
@FelixBrown silly comment, I was double jabbed and still got it. It’s well known that vaccinated people are still able to contract it, although the risk is lower.

OP - so sorry to hear this. Give your midwife a call, they will have plans and procedures in place to look after you and the little one. Best of luck!
It isn't overly silly the vaccine reduces symptoms significantly and prevents risk of serious side effects

I think you have missed the point of what the vaccine is for and how it works...
Hidehi4 · 01/08/2021 01:27

Didn’t take long for those vaccinated people thinking they are invincible again when they are nothing but arrogant cunts. Hope you and your baby are fine

PinkPlantCase · 01/08/2021 02:18

So sorry for all the nastiness you’ve had on this thread OP.

As scary as it is you could see it as a plus that you’ve got to 39 weeks. If you do get poorly and they need to get baby out baby be at term and have a very good chance of being healthy.

Best of luck, hopefully you just have it as a cold, is this it your first baby? x

I think you've missed the point of that post. It was in response to the uneducated person who said It's not like there was anything you could do to prevent this. If only someone had invented a vaccine or something
They were pointing out the vaccine doesn't prevent you from catching covid.

Caspianberg · 01/08/2021 05:43

Fyi, I’m 32 and only have first vaccine last week, and I was one of first in my age category for my area (not I’m). If I was pregnant at 39 weeks I would have just waited 2 weeks as well

I also had a baby in May last year, when Covid was new and everyone terrified ( before vaccine even existed). It was all very calm at the hospital where he was born. A separate Covid birthing ward had been set up the other side of hospital and had dedicated staff for it.

they know so much more now a year on and have various recommendations, so I would listen to your midwife, and try not to worry.

Caspianberg · 01/08/2021 05:44

I meant ( not in Uk)

Chocoqueen · 01/08/2021 05:57

It's very unfortunate. It's not like there was anything you could do to prevent this. If only someone had invented a vaccine or something
1) she could have had it, 2) given the fact pregnant women weren't prioritised unless she's over 35 the chances are she won't have had time to be double vaccinated yet. I'm 34 and was only able to get my second yesterday... and got both 1st and 2nd jabs as soon as I could and 3) if she hasn't, she hasn't and that's none of your concern.

Hope all is ok OP, I agree with speaking to your midwife.

needsomesleeppls · 01/08/2021 06:44

Wishing you a speedy recovery OP, and that your baby is safely delivered.

You do realise that even if you’re vaccinated you can still catch covid 🙄
Girlmum89 · 01/08/2021 07:19

OP you must be so worried, but do try not to be. I caught covid a few months ago when my DD was still a newborn and she was absolutely fine. My doctor called me when I tested positive to ask about my symptoms (they were still collecting information about symptoms then) and while she was on the phone I said I was worried about my daughter. She said to not worry, babies handle covid much better than adults and rarely have symptoms. Obviously it’s not ideal if you do go in to labour and your baby catches it from you, but if you do then your baby will be fine! And either way you’re going to have lots of covid antibodies in your breastmilk to protect your baby! X

NotMyCat · 01/08/2021 07:31

@Lumelcih stop giving false scaremongering information. Of course it's not safe to down random compounds for anyone
But it has about 0.01mg of various salts in, which is perfectly safe and there is plenty of information on google

I despair at the human race when I read posts like this. A.woman is at her most vulnerable, asks other mothers for support & you post this?
Polkadots2021 · 01/08/2021 08:04

@Lumelcih

Hello ladies I'm currently pregnant 22 weeks, over the news it showing and pushing for pregnant women to get covid vaccinated. Well I've done my research and asked about 4 different types of salts listed in the vaccine. I then called 4 different pharmacy to ask if I could take any of these compounds they all said 'NO' it will not be suitable for mum and baby this could effect placenta, growth, and mum's blood circulation! I was shocked to hear this news. Before taking this vaccine you need to check each compound as they have put things in not knowing if you're allergic to these. I asked the pharmacy about monobasic potassium 1 of the salts Please go and check for yourself
@Lumelcih in the nicest possible way...get off social media. Going to check for yourself means reading decent medical reports and medical news alerts from journals like The Lancet. Which would not have led you to believe what you believe.
Kay1111 · 01/08/2021 08:04

Actually the vaccine hasn’t been proven to be safe in pregnancy. Scientists know it doesn’t cause miscarriage or fertility issues but no one can say 100% if it will affect a developing baby. Everyone can make their own choice with the information available at the moment but no one deserves to be judged or put down because of the choice they made.

OP I’m glad your midwife was able to put your mind at rest, I’ve just come out the other side after catching covid at 27 weeks so a very different position to you. Like you I would say it felt like a really shit cold, so lots of rest and naps when you can. I wish you well Flowers
