How do you find out GCSE results on 12th Aug pls?

I know I should know this (but bad current brain fog)
Ds results due on 12th Aug. No comms from school before end of term as to how results are conveyed to students. Ds himself 'not sure' (ASD).
School now shut and no response to email enquiry.
Feel like a crap parent for not knowing this but is there a standard method of sending results (like by post from exam board) or does it vary school by school? Ds seems to think he has to 'go in' but seems unlikely?

My twins (different schools) both have to go in to collect them.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 31/07/2021 19:41

Our school is go in and pick up in person or arrange beforehand for email results/third party pick up.
The person that we contact is the Exams Officer.

KindnessMyFriends · 31/07/2021 19:45

Have you looked at the school website? There is often a notice or link to an exams page explaining what will happen. We are handing ours out on the school site. Students have time slots to arrive to keep it covid safe. Some schools I know are emailing results out though.

My dd1 school was collection in school 9-11am however we have had email since to say they have decided to revert to emailing them
Apparently all students had submitted email addresses in case they changed the format. Dd1 said she remembered doing it but not what email so I emailed school
Abs someone came back to me within a few days (their school has admin staff in through holidays but on a smaller
Scale to term time) they have said if students genuinely need face to face help or to collect results then there will be a few members of the SLT on site that morning.

Dd1 was gutted her and her friends had arranged to go in together to collect
But now they are all
Meeting at lunch for bbq and catch up ) and we are currently in Caribbean on holdiay and fly home the day before results day so
May be a blessing she doesn't have to wake early

Each school will be doing their own thing. The school I work at is emailing them.

Can DS ask someone else in his year?

dcadmam · 31/07/2021 19:50

Can he not ask his school friends if they know?

UncomfortableSilence · 31/07/2021 19:57

DD is getting hers emailed, the school I work in is also emailing out results.

You need to email the Exams Officer, not the generic email as they will be working over the summer around results time and you'll be more likely to get a reply.

Has he asked any of his friends if they know?

diavlo · 31/07/2021 20:16

My DD’s school is emailing them out this year. She’s a bit gutted though as she was looking forward to seeing everyone.

52andblue · 31/07/2021 22:14

Ah thanks.
He has Autism so had a v small circle of friends (like, 1)
I don't think he has an email for her.
I will email the exams officer thanks.

School sent out a 2 page letter at end of term re Exams and I thought it was on that but it's 2 pages re Appeals etc & no tack on re how to get results at the end as I had clearly (mis) remembered.

Unbelievably, we STILL dont know.

NO response from the 3 people I've emailed at School (DHT), exams officer, Year Head. A TA just replied to say: 'don't know, will try to find out, send me your new address and I'll send them on'.

We need to know Thurs, like everyone else. He has ASD and clinical ANxiety and is in a state about them. Plus, he starts new courses in Scotland next week, exam results dependent. Argh....

Just post on the local fb page, surely?

For gcses I think most schools expect you to to in from 9.30am (UK)

Artdecolover · 10/08/2021 21:17

Its not on the school website?

Endofether · 10/08/2021 21:18

Our school is emailing them to the pupil and posting them to home address

52andblue · 10/08/2021 21:47

It's not on the School website, no.

We moved away, so are happy to drive in, but not if School as it's an 80m round trip

We need to join FB to find out how to get results? that's crazy but maybe only way yes.

I posted up thread, emails can go from 8.30 so check from them, all schools in my borough have asked that if you don't get the grades you need to go in at set times.

So I would give it a while to see if the email comes if not go in there will definitely be staff in. Could you pop down to school tomorrow to see if there is anyone there to ask? I and many of my colleagues are in and out this week and exams are in most of the week too so I would be surprised if there was no one there tomorrow.

UncomfortableSilence · 10/08/2021 21:50

Sorry cross posted with you there, no you shouldn't have to be on a FB group to find out, the school should have communicated clearly the procedures for results day as schools are doing them differently this year so you can't assume.

52andblue · 11/08/2021 19:04

At the 11th hour a lovely TA has replied to our email with the info we need. (the DHT, Year Head and Form Tutor all didn't reply so thank God for the TA, who was actually the one who kept Ds sane in Y11). Hurrah.
