The government maybe want us to holiday in the UK, but guess what we're FULL. not a bed, holiday let, nor pitch to be had until the middle of September.

Where are you looking? I've seen lots of availability in Norfolk on the Hoseasons site. It's the more expensive accommodation left mind you.

It’s nearly August in the school summer holidays in a year when there is a pandemic and travel outside the UK is limited. Has this come as a surprise?

Frazzled2207 · 31/07/2021 14:08

I don’t support our government’s constantly changing travel policy one bit but it’s been obvious for months that relying on going abroad this summer wasn’t going to be possible.

We didn’t fancy the uncertainty and so cancelled Spain and went to Somerset instead.

School holidays and holiday destinations booked up. Wow I am shocked!

There is still things out there you may just need to be flexible and probably pay a bit more

Don't be ridiculous.

uk.hotels.com/search.do?destination-id=550823&q-check-in=2021-08-08&q-check-out=2021-08-13&q-rooms=1&q-room-0-adults=2&q-room-0-children=2&q-room-0-child-0-age=10&q-room-0-child-1-age=10

2 adults , 2 children for a week in prime tourist destination Oxford, mid August. 20+ options from about £550 upwards.

I wonder what the list updates will be next week?

Notice how they are all countries in the EU. Seems to be yet another attempt at economic blackmail given the government wishes to amend the Northern Ireland protocol. If it comes to pass.

Not bothering to have economic sanctions on Germany presumably because Angela Merkel is about to step down, not bothering with some of the other EU countries because they are smaller holiday destinations and/or not accepting British visitors anyway.
