Is DH right about 12mo's nap & bedtime?

Yesterday afternoon I had to go out to deal with an emergency and husband who was wfh looked after DD (12.5 months). She was napping and he let he nap right through until 4pm. I usually wake her by 3, or 3.30 at the latest. It's tricky at present as her awake windows are getting longer but she's not quite ready for 1 nap (tried it and it didn't work). As a result of her late nap yesterday, I put her to bed later so she fell asleep at 8 last night. She always needs 4 hours for her last awake window.

Anyway, this morning DD woke up at 7.45am! Usually it's 6-6.30 ish. Naturally we capitalised on the Saturday lie in! What a treat!
Of course DH is now saying it's because of the later nap and bedtime. But all the advice I read always says never let them nap past 3, and that later bedtimes don't automatically lead to later morning wake ups. I'm confused! 🤷‍♀️

But now I'm also confused about what on earth to do about her 2 naps today. She needs 3 hrs for first window and 4 for the second! (As I said, I tried 1 nap day a couple of weeks ago but she was too exhausted.)

So....

  1. was DH's late nap tactic actually a winner and should we do this again, along with 8pm bedtime? (We do enjoy sleeping in a bit later in the mornings).

  2. what do we do about her nap times today?

I never woke mine when they had a nap/fell asleep.

Yesterday might have been a one off but personally I would let her naturally wake up.

I mean one day isn't enough to know of it worked.

I remember trying this sort of thing and it seemed to work, for one day. Then didn't.

But no, I didn't wake the kids up from their afternoon nap, unless on the rare occasion I needed to go out. But then usually regretted it.

Depends on your baby. DD went to bed around 8pm and never slept in regardless how long or short her naps were.

I think I woke her not later than 3.30pm purely in order to get a bit done during the afternoon with her.
