I was reading a thread on here a few weeks ago about career options/changing career - it's something I have been considering for some time as there is no future in my industry (certainly no chance of progression), but I haven't been able to decide what to retrain in.

Working in Tech was coming up a lot, and a poster recommended Code First Girls. I started looking into things, and applied for a scholarship - and today I got accepted!!!

So thank you Mumsnet! My course starts on the 12th August, I'm so looking forward to it, and I am so hopeful for my future!

Ooooohhhhh you have just inspired me to have a look. I can code in VBA and would love to learn to code in another language and am looking at sql.

Nice one!

Yay!!! Well done.

Which course is it??

I recommended Girls Code First recently as I'm taking a Python course with them atm ☺️

Nicecupofteaandacake · 30/07/2021 22:36

@Spexy it’s the python course I am doing! How do you find it? I don’t know a huge amount about coding or programming, but I am really enjoying researching about it all and looking forward to learning - it’s totally different from what I do now.

Sounds fab!

@Nicecupofteaandacake ah fantastic!

I have found it great - the instructors are lovely. The homework can be pretty tricky in places. I've got my final week this week, where we are presenting some projects we've worked on. (We made a top trumps game with pokemon characters!)

Any questions feel free to throw them my way.

I've now applied for the nano degree which is sponsored by an employer- you get a job at the end of it too, which will be great if I pass the test / interview!

Can anyone pop back and let me know how you got on? I'm wondering how competitive the places are at the moment.

TraceyLacey · 07/04/2022 22:44

I'm interested in an update too!

How did your course go?
I'm just about to start the web dev one this week and I hope to do one of the scholarships next year. The timing of 6:30-8:30 is supposed to support working mum's, but it's prime bedtime in my house!
