I really don’t know why I continue to use them. Every week my online shop has issues. Most of the time I can’t even be arsed to complain about having to put something straight in the bin, or having a squished loaf or whatever, but today just takes the piss.

Not only is my order missing stuff but it’s not on the receipt so I can’t even work out what is missing, I’ve ordered a fuck ton of food for a bbq tomorrow and the fucking burgers are missing.

But get this, ordered 5 bottles of Prosecco, Tesco Prosecco, they have charged me £8 a bottle. They have delivered 1 bottle of the stuff I ordered and 4 bottles of something I have never heard of. Stuff I ordered is £7 a bottle. The stuff they have sent as a replacement is £7.50 a bottle I’ve just checked. They have over charged me for every bottle. Makes me think I should check the entire receipt but I dont have time as now I have to go out shopping for all the bits I’m missing (once I fucking work out what they are).

Grrrrrrrrrre

We never have issues with our tesco delivery so we must be lucky. If substitutes are made you should only pay the equivalent of your original choice, even if the substitution is more pricey.

Difficulty with stock is a known issue. There are 60,000 HGV driver vacancies nationally and food production is struggling with staff sickness / isolation.

PigeonPink · 30/07/2021 13:33

I get this a lot with Tesco. You put stuff in the basket then check out, but some of your stuff has vanished from the basket and hasn’t checked out. No idea why it happens but it’s massively annoying.

wetwiped · 30/07/2021 13:38

Use Tesco every week on line ship delivery. Very very rarely any problems and as others have said, customer service have been excellent if I've needed to contact them.

Glad it’s not just me that it happens to.

We've done a Tesco online shop for our holiday as our usual, Ocado, doesn't deliver where we're going. We've not even had the order yet, but the whole process has been disappointing. I've edited the order a few times and things keep on going out of stock and being taken off my order. This can happen weeks before the offer date, but those things then come back into stock and you have to remember to put them back on. At one point there were no apples, so off the order they came. The app/website errors regularly and checkout takes ages. I've no idea how people tolerate it for regular use.

fluffythedragonslayer · 30/07/2021 13:52

I don't use Tesco anymore. Twice I had my entire order cancelled the night before it was due, one if which was when I was self isolating and couldn't go out. No replacement slots for over 2 weeks. I got an Iceland delivery the next day.
My experience with Tesco was getting worse and worse, always late, always things missing. I wouldn't ever use them again now. I use Iceland and Sainsburys.

ThisBear · 30/07/2021 13:52

Some substitutions can be ridiculous, and not common sense choices at all. On the other hand, I know a couple of Tesco online order pickers and their targets are ridiculous. They're penalised if they don't fill enough orders in a certain time, and I believe there's a firm cut-off for getting it all ready so it can go out on the vans. If a lot of people are self-isolating just now and the shelves are also emptier to start with, I'd be understanding if the item is a fair effort.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 30/07/2021 13:55

Their customer service is really good ime, ring up and complain and you'll get a refund. I complained about a leg of lamb once that was really fatty when I'd cooked it and they apologised and refunded.

AbstractHeart · 30/07/2021 14:09

@Dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby

Try Asda, they make sensible substitutions and clearly set out by email what has been substituted for what; and you can hand back to the driver knowing in advance what they have sent.
We've had nothing but terrible experiences with Asda!

The substitutions are often ridiculous, such as substituting vegetarian burgers for meat ones!

& when you log in to change the order it always announces that half the stuff you've already added is now out of stock!

& they never seem to arrive during the time window - one time turning up early and disrupting the kids' bedtime routines, and once arriving 3 hours late at midnight so we had to stay up and wait for them!

I wish Tesco would hurry up and remove the max item limit so we wouldn't have to rely on Asda to stock up!

justasking111 · 30/07/2021 14:19

@Blossomtoes

This is why I go to the supermarket in person.
Me too. If the burger didn't turn up then I would find a butcher, another supermarket. Tesco's don't have a magic wand or a Star Trek Food replicator
WaterIsBest · 30/07/2021 14:21

When you go and buy your burgers, take the bottles back and exchange them!

Sparklingbrook · 30/07/2021 14:22

That's a great solution. Either get a refund for them or see if any of the bottles wanted are now in stock. All sorted.
mylovelydd · 30/07/2021 14:22

I'm assuming you tried phoning them about this? What did they say?

thenightsky · 30/07/2021 14:26

I've order Tesco prosecco in my delivery for this evening. I hope it turns up now I've read this.

SuperSange · 30/07/2021 14:27

@RavingAnnie

I don't understand this.

I get an online shop from Tesco every week.

As the items arrive I unload them and see each item (as nothing is delivered in bags any more you can't help but do this) and check any substitutions which are detailed at the top of your receipt.

So if any item were damaged or there was a substitution I did not want I just return it to the driver. It's very straightforward.

Missing items are tricker to spot but this happens very rarely ime and when it does I call Tesco to advise and they refund.

If the item is not on your receipt at all it means you didn't actually order them. This is easier to do that it sounds if you are not carefully checking that the item has actually made it into your basket. Either that or you didn't check out an order change properly.

This. I use them every week. You musn't have checked out properly.
HaveANiceFuckingDay · 30/07/2021 14:31

@RedToothBrush

Have you been in a supermarket in the past fortnight?? Empty shelves everywhere. Why do think you are special and should be able to get goods which aren't on the shelves for everyone else? Thats just how things are atm. If you don't like your delivery service go to the supermarket and if you can't do that go find someone else to do your shopping for you. See how well you do atm...
I've had absolutely no problem whatsoever getting anything I want from any supermarket. I haven't seen any empty shelves . I go around 3 times a week and have been able to pick up bread , yoghurts , ham , cheese ( all kinds ) pasta , milk , eggs , flour, sugar, crisps ...anything Perhaps the OP isnt in the same place as you and is more my neck of the woods I haven't done an online shop for ages as I flit between Tesco, lidl and sainsburys depending on where I am , plus I worry about subs and the delivery price is bad enough when I live very near all of them Tesco had half price rotisserie chickens the other day and they werent yellow stickers , there were quite a few , I picked up 2 . Don't think they were online, sometimes it pays to go instore
ginghamtablecloths · 30/07/2021 14:37

In an actual shop I bought a supposedly 'three for two' offer but when I got to the checkout was told this discount was only for those with a Clubcard - so full price then. This should be made much clearer with bigger signage. I think they rely on the customer not bothering to complain.

It couldn’t be much clearer. All the Clubcard reductions are very clearly marked with the normal price and the Clubcard price. All you have to do is pay attention.
Shirleyphallus · 30/07/2021 15:01

I have always had a really good experience with Tesco. Their app is much better than the website and easy to use

I also then tweet them when items are mouldy or whatever, they always refund without question

Floralnomad · 30/07/2021 15:07

I use Tesco delivery all the time and on any occasions I’ve had an issue it’s quickly sorted by the customer service people . Are you sure that the Prosecco wasn’t on offer when you ordered it and it’s now gone back to its usual price .

gamerchick · 30/07/2021 15:10

Don't Tesco charge you more for charity or something? Like round it up and give the excess to some charity thing?

Rizzoli123 · 30/07/2021 15:44

I used to work in tesco picking people's shopping. If an item wasn't there we were told to substitute with something better. Of it was higher priced the customer was charged the orgional price. The difference was not charged for. Lp

thenightsky · 30/07/2021 18:04

Well, my tesco delivery hasn't even turned up now. Sad

justasking111 · 30/07/2021 18:08

Whenever Tesco etc do a deal on prosecco or other alcohol the retirement folks swoop down in person and buy in bulk.

Worriesome · 30/07/2021 19:08

I hate online shopping - you get all excited the day it’s coming and then so deflated when you realise such a high percentage of the shopping is missing! I just wanted to sympathise with you. All you can do is call customer service and rant so they can reimburse you x
