Which job…

I’ve been in my current role for 12 years and have always loved it, but due to a lot of staff changes I’m not enjoying it anymore. In fact it is making me miserable.

I interviewed for two jobs. Job 1 was offered to me first and I accepted verbally. I haven’t signed contracts yet but have agreed a start date. The job doesn’t excite me but I know I’ll do it well. It’s a safe and dependable company, slightly old fashioned. The management team seem nice enough but no real chemistry. Money and benefits are good, better than I have now.

Before I was offered it I applied for job 2 and interviewed the day before I had the offer. They want to take me to final round interview. The job really excites me, I came out the interview buzzing with excitement. I definitely felt a strong chemistry with the management team - it was meant to be an hours interview but went on for two and felt more like a meeting to bounce round ideas than an interview. They were effusive in their invite for the final stage of interviews. The money is exactly what I’m on now, the package actually not quite as good and the commute longer.

What would you do?

I’m desperate to move but need to return the contract to job 1 this week. The other company can’t interview me until 12th August. I don’t want to mess job 1 around nor turn it down if I end up not getting job 2.

I don’t know what to do!
