What's your toddler's odd obessessions?

19 month old DS has a rather odd fascination with stones it's beginning to border on obsessive. He collects them everywhere we go, fills buckets and bags with them, lines them up, makes patterns and stacks them and generally favours them as his toy of choice when playing outside.

In my mind it's an odd little quirk of his character and most toddlers have a similar obscure fixation. However I mentioned to a friend today in general conversation and she said its utterly bizarre and not normal because her toddler has no obsessions.Hmm

Not fussed about her comment or attitude if she wants to think that so be it. However it got me wondering what other oddities are coverted by other toddlers. So feel free to share with me what unusual items your little people seem to treasure beyond all else.

My DS was obsessed with stones too!

He is 8 now and looks at us like we are mad when we remind him how he used to collect stones and cuddle each one individually and whisper "I love you stone".

MIL brought him stones home from a holiday and I've never seen anyone so happy.

My son was obsessed with stones as a small child too, and had one particular nondescript pebble he was so fond of that I knitted it a scarf and hat. He used to tuck it up in bed in a little box and put a little blanket over it.
We rediscovered it in the back of a drawer when he moved out in his 20s and he instantly remembered it and insisted we keep it Grin
