Morrison's prices have increased massively or is it just me?

I used to regularly have a Morrison's delivery and was always happy with their prices, I thought they were very reasonable.

For the last couple of months I have been shopping at Aldi, however because Aldi doesn't stock some items that Morrison's do, I decided to book a delivery.

I noticed that quite a lot of Morrison's prices have gone up by at least £1 if not £2 or £3 . At first I thought it was because I had become used to Aldis prices but I checked my order history and it is in fact real price increases.

Has anyone else noticed this? Have the other supermarkets put their prices up?

Yes, everywhere has gone up

EvilPea · 29/07/2021 14:31

I’ve always found morrissons more expensive than the others, but chantico is right everywhere has gone up

They have, and not only that, but in my Morrisons the quality (particularly fruit and veg) has gone right down. I've also noticed that they are carrying fewer lines of groceries and many of the budget versions have been stopped. They just stock the dearer ones. The quality of all their ready meals has gone through the floor too.

My weekly Tesco shop was about £90 last year and this year I can’t seem to get it under £120 no matter how much I try! So I suspect it’s all the supermarkets.

PotteringAlong · 29/07/2021 14:32

Yes, massively. Combined with their scrapping of match and more points I’m thinking about changing supermarket!

caughtinanet · 29/07/2021 14:34

Yes, it's special price increases just for you Grin

2 of my top 3 three threads I'm on are about food price increases and I'm sure there must be lots of others I haven't seen.

Pretty much everyone knows their food shop is going up in cost

gardeninggirl68 · 29/07/2021 14:35

i see prices rising in most supermarkets unfortunately

and i think they will only continue to rise for some time yet.....brexit,covid,shortages,extra demand....all plays into it

TwoMountains · 29/07/2021 14:35

I’ve noticed prices going up in other supermarkets.

gettingfedupagain · 29/07/2021 14:35

Morrison's have increased very sharply and more than others

Starlightstarbright1 · 29/07/2021 14:35

Yes prices have gone up.
We have an Aldi next door to Morrisons. I do sometimes nip to Morrisons for the same reason as you. I always notice how much less i get for the money and vow not to do it again

TheWhalrus · 29/07/2021 14:38

Just one example of why Brexit was/is such a bad idea.

Galacticat · 29/07/2021 14:42

Yes. They've all gone up. Its making it difficult to afford a decent shop these days.
It was mentioned quite a few times that prices would rise but nobody seemed keen to listen 🤷‍♀️

Happy brexit... congratulations on the worst trade deals in the world 😂

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 29/07/2021 14:49

I haven't done my shop yet, but I can't believe how much the price of diesel has shot up!

NuffSaidSam · 29/07/2021 14:50

Tesco have gone up suddenly and markedly and almost every item as well.

QuestionableMouse · 29/07/2021 14:51

Not just that, but the amount of substitutions is getting crazy. Not their fault but I had ten on my last shop and it wasn't a massive shop. ☹️🤷🏻‍♀️

Sexnotgender · 29/07/2021 14:53

I had this exact conversation with someone last week.

Supply chain issues for the supermarkets have been reported in the news recently. I think that’s probably a separate issue to the price rises.
BeastOfBODMAS · 29/07/2021 15:01

Yes I have found Morrisons prices have gone up, but when I’ve popped into other supermarkets they haven’t seemed comparatively cheaper! (Expect for Aldi/Lidl which is always the case)

One thing I would say in favour of Morrisons:
I have a weekly delivery, I can book these up to 3 weeks in advance. Items are priced at the date I add it to basket and update the order, not the price at delivery date. Also, their offers tend to run in 4 week cycles.

So, I check weekly for offers and when they come on, replace the item in my basket for the next 3 shops so I pay the offer price each week. By the end of those 3 weeks the thing will likely have come on offer again.

I save loads this way as about 75-90% of each shop is on some sort of offer as it’s the best price from the last 3 weeks. Takes about 20 mins each week to do.
