Can't shift this horrible headache

Woke up last Friday with a bad headache. The next day sore throat, muscle aches, fever, and what felt like stabbing pains all over my body that continued for 5 days. Extreme fatigue and tiredness. Feeling much better now except for the headache that just will not go. Paracetamol is not touching it anymore, is there anything over the counter that I can buy?

I've had 1 pcr test and 2 lateral flow tests over the last week as I was so convinced I had the Delta variant. All have come back negative.

You could try Nurofen plus which is ibuprofen and codeine along with the paracetamol. Have you been drinking enough. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, I'll go get some now.

Good, try to have something to eat even if it is only small before you take them. You can take Paracetamol as well as the Nurofen plus if you want to.

I’ve got exactly the same OP and negative test here too. Must be some type of virus about, but seeing as I’m masked up and sanitised I don’t know how I’ve managed to catch it!

Pissinthepottyplease · 29/07/2021 13:18

I’ve had similar. I’m on day 6 and it’s starting go.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/07/2021 13:19

I've just recovered from similar which actually saw me signed off work for a set, the first time in my life that's ever happened.

I have to say the fatigue afterwards was the worst aspect but three weeks in I'm almost fighting fit again.

CalliopeCat · 29/07/2021 16:27

If it;s lasted that long, it's probably worth getting checked over. My mum had a severe, long lasting headache and it turned out to be a horrible sinus infection that she needed IV antibiotics to shift.

NuffSaidSam · 29/07/2021 16:53

I've also had similar, although not as severe as yours sounds.

Feel better soon OP.

Try taking one paracetamol & one ibuprofen with either a can of proper coke or strong sugary coffee.

cherrypiepie · 29/07/2021 16:57

I've had this a few times - first when I was 18 abs went through all types of scans painkillers but it was actually sinusitis as diagnosed about 10 years later when I had the same symptoms.

It could be that. GP said can just be a headache and not obviously cold/flu symptoms.

Try some Sudafed you need the Pseudroepherine one

Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like traditional.flu

FloofyCushion · 30/07/2021 06:53

Thank you everyone. The nurofen helped but its still lingering in the background. I'll (try to) make a GP appointment if it hasn't gone by Monday.
