John Lewis wedding list - help!

This is driving me nuts. I've got items from my niece's wedding list in my basket, but at checkout the delivery options don't mention this at all - surely they deliver everything together on an agreed date? I'm sure I didn't have this problem last time I did it.

Have searched on their website for info, called customer services when after the usual long wait I was told she couldn't help and would transfer me to the myjohnlewis team, then the call dropped. Also looked generally online but can't find an answer.

Then I tried emailing, but it requires an order number.

I don't want to complete the purchase and them get the gifts at some random time, it seems silly. Possibly it resolves itself at payment stage, but how do I know?

When we did our JL gift list last year they contacted us after the wedding to organise delivery of all the gifts at once. I think that’s the only way they do it!

DogsSausages · 29/07/2021 11:04

If you Google onto j.l wish list it says that the delivery date and delivery options are arranged up with the person setting up the wish list, so guests buy something from the list it comes off the list, when the list is completed or the date of the wedding is near they contact the bride, confirm delivery direct with them,

Thanks @HurlyBurlyyy and @DogsSausages, so do you think I should just go ahead and pay with delivery to their address? Wish it was clearer!

Yeah, I got married last August - the people getting married agree the delivery terms with JL.

So you can just buy, and then they'll be delivered whenever the bride and groom have agreed Smile

DogsSausages · 29/07/2021 11:59

I will try and find the link. I guess you could buy it separately and have it delivered to them directly but you run the risk of someone else also buying it if it doesnt get taken off their wish list.

DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda · 29/07/2021 12:01

I couldn't work out how to get it sent direct to them either and it's being delivered to me tomorrow- it had better have come off their list! I'll be furious if someone else ends up getting it too!

Bloodybridget · 29/07/2021 14:44

@DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda glad it's not just me being dim - I tried emptying my basket and starting again, but went all the way through to payment with no information that it would be delivered with everything else that people are giving them. Anyway, it's done.

Hi,
I encountered the exact same when I bought some gifts in June. When we married, the gift was taken off the list and we chose a date for them to all be delivered at once, but when I went to buy our friends a gift it took me to the normal checkout!! I was SO confused and eventually just put their address in as the delivery address and checked it as a gift. Then I was stressed because it was being delivered by Hermes!!!! Thankfully it arrived safely. It must just be an option now for the couple to have their gifts delivered as and when they are bought. I am pretty sure at as a gift is bought it is checked off as there were some items that I didn't have the option to buy. Hope this helps!

MaggieFS · 29/07/2021 15:16

That sounds odd. Sorry to ask, but are you definitely accessing the items via the list rather than knowing what's on the list and online shopping 'normally'?

DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda · 29/07/2021 15:37

Yes, clicking on the link for their list, adding something from the list to my basket, then it asked for the delivery address. I have no idea of the couple's address and it didn't offer it to me, so I had to get it delivered to me. The FAQs seemed to say I'd have a choice of getting it delivered to me or the couple, but it seemed that required me to input their address Confused

Bloodybridget · 29/07/2021 16:47

Something seems to be going wrong with JL's system, then.

Hi,

Sorry to revive an old thread but how did it go with your purchases? I'm having the same issue now. I checked back when I ordered on similar before and I just paid and it was delivered. Now like others it just seems like the standard checkout and asks for the couples address (which I don't know). I don't want to get it delivered to me as it's heavy crockery. I'm on the edge of just buying a gift card but would rather buy something they actually wanted.

Flowersinamilkbottle · 11/04/2022 18:44

@ConfusedAboutJL did you get it sorted? I am having the same issue - I was sent to the main checkout page and had to enter a delivery address. However it is also not currently taking that item off their wishlist so it is still available for someone else to buy. I am very confused!
