Just had a disappointing packet of mini cheddars

I need to preface this with the fact I’ve had a few glasses of wine, and a shitty day, so I’m feeling very contemplative.

With said red wine, I had some mini cheddars that I found in the cupboard. I don’t know how they got there but thought they’d make a nice snack to go with the wine. What a bloody disappointment. Bland flavour, lack of crunch, and a very small portion. This was not the snack of my youth.

This got me thinking, why is everything now so fecking shit? I see threads on here all the time about chocolate tasting like shit nowadays, the rotten state of Dairy Milk, chocolate bars and sweets which have been RUDELY discontinued etc etc.

Feeling very sad. And disappointed. It’s a sad state of affairs.

Buy the jacobs sticks. Oh my god they're unbelievable. Cheese flavour or steak flavour. Thank me later

Do it now

Just had a disappointing packet of mini cheddars

I can't believe I didn't know those sticks existed! Shock
Proper cheddars are much nicer than mini ones because they are thin and crispy.
I do get the mini ones to out on my kids packed lunches.
I feel terrible that I've been sending them the message that I don't love them! BlushGrin

They really need to sell the Branston pickle ones in more places. Only ever seen them in pubs or cash n carrys

Camomila · 30/07/2021 21:30

The only use for mini cheddars is to put in the packed lunch of someone you want to subtly tell you don’t love them.

Poor DS1 gets mini cheddars in his packed lunch as a treat (because officially I don't think they are allowed crisps).

OP - try sweet chilly pea crisps from Aldi, they are amazing.

Although I love Mini Cheddars you can't beat Tuc cheese sandwiches 😋

Enough4me · 31/07/2021 00:44

@Toddlerteaplease MC cat looks gorgeous and a bit displeased.

Was he unimpressed by the current state of mini cheddars and angling for some meaty biscuits?

cardoon · 31/07/2021 01:13

@hugoagogo

You want the cheese and chive crinklys
Do you mean cheese and onion?
Roasteros · 31/07/2021 02:32

I'm hopping on here to give out about M&S changing the texture of their salt and vinegar lentil curls. They used to be lovely. Now they're not. However, their Cheese Tasters ( which I recently tried for the first time) are delicious. Probably even nicer than Tayto Cheesatees.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/07/2021 07:35

@Enough4me, she thinks I should let her try some mini cheddars so she can test them for quality. She'd love them, knowing her!

cardoon · 31/07/2021 11:40

Aldi lentil curls are really crunchy

LagneyandCasey · 31/07/2021 12:28

Yes the Aldi ones are far superior or indeed the big Mini Cheddars. Tuc sandwiches aren't as good as they used to be but still acceptable.

I'm addicted to the salt and vinegar fish 'n' chips snacks and am glad that my local Aldi now stocks them. They're the only snacks that still taste the same as they did in the 80's.

Also spicy tomato Wheat Crunchies. Sadly they only come in a variety pack and I'm not keen on the other flavours.

I hate the taste of sweeteners. If anyone can find a full sugar brand of cream soda or cherryade please let me know!

DinosaurDiana · 31/07/2021 12:29

The mini cheddar sticks are deliciously evil. Be warned, you will eat the whole packet.

TheSmallAssassin · 31/07/2021 12:32

I am really disappointed with the new blue cheese ones, they are nowhere near as good as the Stilton ones were.

HeronLanyon · 31/07/2021 19:23

dinosaur you are right. I DID eat them all in very short space of time. Luckily they were not on the shop shelf when I next looked for them (I looked long and hard!)
