On myself in the last 12 months because I wanted to join a gym and get a personal trainer. To do something nice for myself for a change. Spend money on me for a change. Look after me instead of looking after everyone else. And because I am greedy, I have put on all the weight I lost so am basically 1lb lighter than I was 12 months ago so I have now decided to cancel the gym and the PT. Please tell me I'm not the only one that does idiotic things like this.

I started seeing a PT weekly because I wanted to have something just for me. It is my weekly hour of self indulgence and I love it. I know if I didn't have the PT waiting for me I'd never motivate myself to go to the gym. We meet outside and it is an hour of hard work where I feel brilliant afterwards. I only meant to book 5 sessions but I've been going for 4 months now.

I haven't lost a pound because I still love eating, but I feel much stronger physically and mentally and that is enough for me. I have taken steps to improve my diet and cut out junk, but I also have small children and want to give myself a break.

Think what I'm trying to say is you aren't an idiot, you are human. If you are enjoying it and can afford it carry on! Don't give up!

But are you fitter and happier? Is the weight muscle not fat? Would you be so much heavier had you not done it? I’m at a stage now where personal training is for maintenance not weight loss but it doesn’t mean I’m throwing money away.
