Flatbread disaster

Decided to make flatbread yesterday and followed a random recipe. It involved milk and butter. The flat bread was quite hard and not very nice.

Anyway, looked up some more flat bread recipes and none of them mention milk or butter! Anyone got a fool proof flatbread recipe and instructions as I'd like to make them again.

Jamie Oliver’s simple three ingredient flatbreads which have yoghurt in them.

You can thank me later! They’re fantastic.

What @PurpleDaisies said !
Lockdown discovery and used almost weekly !

yep, jamie Oliver recipe is great.
Even better, when they're warm, brush melted flavoured butter ( garlic/ cumin/ other lovely stuff) on them.

Thank you so much. Need to order more flour and will make them post haste as I do love a flatbread.

Enjoy! Last time I made them we ate them as fast as I could cook them!

Yes yes, Jamie’s flatbreads all the way! The yoghurt makes them so soft.

Equal quantities of plain yoghurt and flour - never fails for me!

My recipe is probably similar to Jamie’s and it’s bloody amazing 😋
1 cup yogurt
2 cups self raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
Mix together, adding a little milk or water if it’s too dry, divide into balls slightly bigger than a gold ball and roll out flat on a well floured surface. Dry with a tiny smear of oil or clarified butter.
You can add nigella seeds too for a lovely flavour. They are delicious and so quick and easy!

That should say fry with a smear of oil or clarified butter, not dry!

I really love this recipe:

TonTonMacoute · 28/07/2021 16:27

I use 120g plain flour
1fl oz olive or rapeseed oil
2 fl oz water
Seasoning

That makes 2 breads so multiply up as many times as you need.

We made the JO recipe in lockdown and it really surprised me with its deliciousness. Yoghurt was an unexpected ingredient.

I couldn't get good char marks on my flatbread though. Any tips anyone ?

Jamie Oliver one with yogurt. No oil in the pan when you make it.
