My new phone won’t stay on WiFi - help please

Typically, all helplines are closed for the night at apple.

I got an iPhone 12 today and am trying to finish the restore from backup started in store.

The guy told me to go home, connect to wifi and let it finish.

Every time I connect to my wifi it stays on for approx 3 seconds then goes back to 4g.

So far I have tried switching the iPhone off and on again. Switching router off and on again. Resetting network settings. Forgetting the router and refinding it an manually inputting the password.

Any thoughts? I am tearing my hair out with it.

I had this issue with my iPhone recently. Turning on airplane mode then off worked.

Thank you. Just tried that and it is still the same. Utterly infuriating, and it fair takes the shine off something new.

I'm guessing you've already tried what Google suggests?

If you can’t connect to another WiFi, at a friends house for example, it’s probably a fault with the phone and you should take it back to Apple. If it stays connected on someone else’s but just not your own it’s something to do with your ISP and you should contact them for a fix.

Have you tried turning off mobile data, force it to connect to WiFi?

Thanks again for all suggestions. In case someone else has the same issue, I managed to get it sorted - even though VPN was off, there was something still active ine background, so I had to remove VPN from my phone and it started working finally.
