Mumps as an adult

I’ve just been diagnosed with mumps. Neck and glands are swollen on both sides, but not hamster like. Very tired and run down. Throat is excruciatingly painful and under my tongue and ears too.

I’ve had the MMR as a child. If you’ve had mumps as an adult, how long did it last? Not sure I can cope with the pain for much longer!!

I had mumps as an adult. (Had MMR).

Was signed off work for 3 weeks. All I can remember is being in agony, having to hide away from the men in the house and being absolutely off my tits on all the pain meds I had!

I think it lasted a couple of weeks. It was pretty awful! So painful 😣

I had mumps when I was 19 (also had MMR as a child), it was miserable so I feel.your pain. I think the worst part lasted about a week?

My cousin did, he's male so also had testicular involvement (they thought he may be infertile but thankfully not). He was very ill for several weeks (also had the MMR but it doesn't give lifelong immunity).

Oh I did a few years ago. Also had mmr as a child. Jezzzz I was so poorly. It lasted a few weeks. I was exhausted for weeks after. I hardly ate so lost quite a bit of weight. Hope you are on the mend soon

DS (4) has just started with a temperature and falling asleep. His behaviours been a nightmare for the past 2 days so I’m thinking he’s coming down with it too which is worrying.

Has anyone had mumps as an adult without being vaccinated? Daug (7) has mumps (been vaccinated) and I’ve been exposed . I never had mumps as a kid nor had the MMR. I’m terrified
