Cash wedding present?

Any thoughts on the current going rate for cash wedding presents as an evening guest? Not a free bar so I thought maybe £40? I know some people don't like giving cash as a present, but it's what the couple have asked for and I don't really mind. My DP isn't invited as numbers are too tight, so it's just from one person.

Depends where, but as an average from ours (6 yrs ago) most of our evening guests gave £20, most day guests gave about £50pp

Thanks @Miarara!

£40 seems very high for just the evening do especially as no plus one.

For evening only I would give £25.

burnoutbabe · 27/07/2021 16:26

£20 for evening max. The ones I have Vern to of later had zero food, buy your own drinks and no where to even sit down.

I don't bother now unless it's very local.

£20 for an evening invitation

I’d say £30 for an evening invitation without your partner.

I think it is a very good idea and the bride and groom will be extremely pleased to receive cash.

Put it in a card and either give it them or to someone they have designated to look after cards (I've been to a wedding where that was done, a chap had a bag and kept all cards etc safe for them).

Or else send them a cheque beforehand but - cash is always welcome. £40 sounds fine too.

Another one saying £20-25 here Smile

For evening only and no plus one I think that's a perfectly good amount.

gogohm · 27/07/2021 16:41

20-25 seems fine for evening only no plus one unless you are very close (unlikely for evening only)

burnoutbabe · 27/07/2021 18:02

Why more if you get a plus one for the evening? Generally there is now no buffet so it doesn't cost anymore for them to invite one or 2.

£20
