Another iPhone, or something else? Not a clue!

My iPhone 6s is nearly 6 years old. I'm not an upgrader Grin I keep a phone until it actually needs to be replaced, either because software is no longer available for it or because the phone is physically wearing out. That time is approaching for my current phone.

I don't want anything bigger than my 6s (it's already too big for my womanly pockets). I want some degree of water-resistance and a better camera. iPhone 12 mini ticks all these boxes.

But should I stick with iPhone because that's what I know? Is there something else I should consider?

I like the iPhone user interface and find it intuitive and easy to learn. Apart from iTunes - gnashes teeth and avoids using phone for music because it is so frustrating!

OTOH my Android-using family keep pointing out how amazing their phones are, but they're all geeks and software nerds who cannot explain why this is in ways a normal person understands.

Help?

And iPhone 12 is also at the very top of my budget.

Why don’t you go for an iPhone 8 which is an improvement on your 6 but not the latest model which is obviously much more money.

I don’t like android phones personally.

I switched from Android to Apple this year and would never go back now! iPhones all the way!

ILoveMyMonkey · 27/07/2021 13:41

I switched from an iPhone to android as I couldn’t afford to update my iPhone - android contract expired and I went straight back to an iPhone and am very pleased. Androids are good but just don’t compare imo.

I've had an iPhone since the iPhone 3, I switched to Android last time. When my contract is up I'm going straight back to iPhone, everything seems to be set up primarily for iPhone, and then for Android second, even down to trivial things like the availability of nice cases!

I got the iPhone SE the new one out last year as a replacement for the old IPhone SE, I love it. Small enough for me to use one handed, I hate how all the phone now are nearly the same size as a tablet and my thumb just can't reach across the keyboard.

I would not move away from Apple now but that mainly because I have a few different Apple devices and like that they all talk to each other and automatically update each other. Set up was and simple as holding my new phone near my old one and it just transferred all my settings, apps and contacts across.

We've all had android phones for year, but if you like an iphone why not stick with it? You would save a lot of money by buying something like a motorola outright & getting a cheap sim, but it depends what your priorities are.

The Samsung A70 has all the features that your IPhone has plus an expandable memory, it also has a better battery life.

iPhone. Androids cannot be defended using normal terms because they are shit. I think I got rid of iTunes, or at least I thankfully can’t see it. I just have Spotify.

Keep in mind the weight. I miss my 6s from years ago because now I apparently need the upper body strength of Tyson Fury to make a phone call.

amylou8 · 27/07/2021 14:06

If you're an iPhone user, and not a big techie then stick to an iPhone. Android is of course much MUCH better, but quite different to use. My kids all have iPhones (the shame) and I can't even work out how to close an app on the darn things 😁😁
