Name changed

Why do people start a thread by telling you they've name changed?
Can other users see they've named changed, is that the reason they say it?

Because if you advance search the name it will come up as their first post, and first posters should be taken with a pinch of salt.
It’s basically saying you’ve been on MN for a while.

It's also for privacy reasons on a sensitive post, so others won't associate it with your other posts.

Nobody can see that you've name changed, apart from MNHQ.
