Norfolk/Norwich/Norfolk Broads - weekend break tips

Dh and I have booked a break away in Norfolk near Norwich. Randomly booked as there was a space in a nice holiday let but we don't know what's worth doing. We are presuming we'll go for some cycle rides and that's about as far as we've got! Any suggestions?

Have a look on here OP, this might give you a flavour of the Broads by bike.
And have a day in Norwich - it's lovely (I live here) - go to Elm Hill, The Lanes (lots of quirky shops, lovely cafes) and look round the Market in the centre. Plenty to do and see - and loads of lovely pubs!
Enjoy!

Great thanks! Where could we go for a nice lunch on Saturday in Norwich?

Dippy the diplodocus skeleton cast from the Natural History Museum is spending the summer in Norwich cathedral this year, well worth a visit (as is the cathedral itself).

No need to book for Dippy, no charge either, just queue up. We went last week and it was fairly quiet but will be busier now school holidays are in full swing.

Seal trips from Morston Quay - there are several operators, we had a good trip with Temple tours.

Sheringham is a nice little seaside town, with a steam railway to Holt.

SophieB100 · 26/07/2021 22:33

Yes, Rooftop Gardens - nice for lunch or dinner.
Franks Bar - Exchange Street - friendly, informal lunch/cafe place.
The Ivy - London Street - gorgeous food and decor.
You could hire a boat for a couple of hours from Wroxham, and mooch
around the Broads - lovely.
Enjoy OP!

Seals are Horsey too - nice quiet beaches along there. (Avoid Yarmouth - unless you want Bingo/amusements, etc.)

SophieB100 · 26/07/2021 22:35

at Horsey - sorry typo

Norfolk is lovely!

Walk around Whitlingham Lake, it's about 45mins, an idyllic walk.

Were moving to Norwich soon so this thread is making me very excited! I’ve screenshoted these ideas.

Enjoy your holiday, OP.

@Willwebebuyingnumber11 aww you will love it, we moved to Norwich in Feb, best decision we ever made. We relocated from the South Coast. So much to do and really convenient place to live. Good luck with your move.
