Any recs?
I thought I'd like the laminate and it's good but ideally I adore real marble, but now the quartz looks good?

don't get real marble. it marks so easily and is impossible to get clean.

we have a quartz desktop in our bedroom and it is a million times better than the marble and looks just as good, if not better.

I have ceramic and it is fantastic. So easy to clean! Mine is dark so no staining but I’d imagine the lighter colours would also be stain resistant.

Quartz. No contest.

I’ve got Minerva which is a solid acrylic. Really pleased with it

Panickingpavlova · 27/07/2021 09:18

Oh goodness each post a different material which one is the cheapest! But can look like marble..

Minerva has the pattern right through so similar to marble I’d have thought. Means any scratches or chips can be buffed out

Over thanks fir that thread link, the Minera sounds awful, people's saying it's cracking under slow coolers and scratching easily..

Quartz is fantastic. Ours is five years old with no stains. It's very hard wearing.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 27/07/2021 20:55

@Panickingpavlova very happy with DIY we didnt buy top end more middle range price but still £2000 cheaper for same thing than wickes, the staff are very good at tweaking your order for things you have forgotten and making sure everything is right before you pay for it and order it if you can go to their showroom near Pontefract well worth a visit to see the units in situ

Panickingpavlova · 27/07/2021 21:24

@isseys4xmastinselcats

Thank you, yes Same they are coming up several thousand pounds cheaper than magnet

One question, re the "helpful tweaking", do they offer this as a matter of course or de we have to ask for this.
Thanks

@Panickingpavlova the tweaking she did was we didnt understand what cornice and pelmet was the assistant explained it and didnt work out about end panels which ones we would need so she did that for us and got to admit the bits she put in have made the kitchen look better than if we hadnt had them and she worked out accurately how much worktop and kickboards we needed for our plans

Quartz is s so much better than marble. It’s not pours so doesn’t stain or absorb smells / flavours.

I’ve had bone white quartz for about 4 years now and it’s immaculate. I am really clumsy and splashy too.
