Via the medium of pan pipes and accordion. It's completely thrown me!
What are your weird musical experiences?

That was an unexpected end to the sentence! Thanks for making me laugh.

I think it's impressive that you recognised it!

I'm not sure I'd recognise anything that had been mangled through pan pipes and an accordion. Did someone sing, too?

mineofuselessinformation · 26/07/2021 19:26

@MadMadMadamMim, I knew I knew it, but has to listen and think for quite a while before I realise what it was! Grin

Welcome to the Jungle by Richard Cheese.

No vocals, which was what made it difficult to recognise!
It's almost up there with when I visited a pub years back and a full pipe band appeared (I didn't know it was going to happen). The sound made my rib cage vibrate.

Oh my lord, you've brought back a very painful, but hilarious event.

Waiting for my lift home from a hospital specialising in radio and chemo therapy for people who have/had cancer. Two young girls, one on guitar one on a violin, came to " cheer up the cancer victims "( that's how I thought of it not what they announced).

When they started on "octopus garden" two of us had to walk out and laugh like drains outside.

I guess they did cheer us up, not that we were in need of it 😁

@user1471453601, that's the strange thing isn't it? How music can affect our mood, even when we're least expecting it...

I was on holiday with my now EXH and our DD. Evening entertainment at the hotel was a singing duo, who sang Islands in the Stream in Spanish. I had had one too many vodka’s, laughed way too much! Just so random!

I heard a dance version of My Heart Will Go On today. It started off slow like the original and then this big beat kicked in and sped up. It was not good.

When I went for a glaucoma test at the eye hospital in the city- had the drops put in that make your vision go all blurry. Had the tests done then had to go and sit in the waiting area. I was sat there and then a fruit & veg stall opens up in the middle of the waiting area - ok not so weird. Then right in front of me a lady appears with a harp case, proceeds to open it and set up a stonking great harp in front of me (it was a service provided in conjunction with the hospital).

Honestly, I was just sat there inwardly chuckling to myself how surreal it was - twinkly twinkly harp music playing whilst random people were buying punnets of strawberries, with my blurry vision I felt like I was hallucinating.

On holiday in Hong Kong twenty-odd years ago. The hotel’s resident band struck up ‘Killing Me Softly’, which was pretty standard. Except The Fugees’ version was out at the time, so one of the musicians kept leaning forward onto the mic and going, ‘One tiiiime’ between choruses, and smirking to himself. It was so funny. They sounded really good, apart from that bit!

@Whirlywooo
I work there! Wait until the rain starts up pounding on the atrium glass roof!

I was at a military event once when a bagpipe band in kilts and busby hats marched by playing a jaunty syncopated version of 'Killing me softly'. No one else found it funny. But I thought it was so...random.
