Is this the courier scam that’s been mentioned on here?

So DP gets an email from Amazon saying an item he never ordered has been dispatched. He checks the credit card and sees the exact money is pending. We look on orders and nothing has been ordered however when I click about some more on the site I find the order and it’s been archived.
Item arriving today to the value of £179.

We’ve rung Amazon and they’ve cancelled the order and started a refund. The customer services person said it wouldn’t be delivered but on the Amazon site it is saying about returning the item once delivered. So I’m not completely convinced about that. The item didn’t seem high value enough for it to be the courier scam where it’s delivered by the genuine driver and then picked up again by a fake driver. How else do these scams work when they’re being delivered to your house?
