Anyone up for a bit of self care?

I need to start!
I'm exhausted, overweight, stressed, busy, working and looking after three children, one with SEN who is currently home schooled.
I've really let myself go, eat crap, don't exercise, don't drink enough water, sleep is awful.
I don't mean self care in terms of spa days and manicures (although that would be nice!), I mean in terms of a dental check up, opticians, my year over due long term conditions check at the doctors, eating better and exercising.
Making time to see friends and family on my own.
Getting to bed before midnight.
I've made a start today!
I did a meal plan and went shopping for healthy food. Walked five miles tonight.
I have the dentist tomorrow.... Terrified, but it's a step in the right direction I guess!
Planned to see two friends Wednesday.
Anyone want to join me?

It's important we make time for ourselves, I would never let the children shun their health like this, so I need to take my own advice!

I hear ya, recently started doing the same myself as I'm shocking for looking after myself.
Trying to calorie count, drink lots of water and eat more fruit and vegetables.

Are you me ??!! I could of wrote this myself. I'm definitely on board . Having a child with autism I'm petrified of dying young due to being overweight , yet I can't seem to do anything about it .

I have a full on job, kids & elderly parents to look after. I need to lose 3 stone.

I've started going to bed super early.
Dyed my hair yesterday.
Trying really hard to drink less alcohol as it helps my sleep, mood & digestion hugely.
I swam 3 times last week after failing to exercise for months! Confused

Heading off on holiday this week so will come off social media & try to do loads of exercise!

Every year in January I have:
Routine blood tests
Dentist check up & clean
Smear test & vaginal ultrasound (this is how they do it where I am - once a year)

I'm due to the drs tomorrow too, with a shitload of hormonal tests (ttc with mild pcos)

I am tired, overwhelmed and I need to lose about 7 kg. I definitely don't drink enough water so I'll focus more on that.

We can all do this!

So far today I have drank water (only a small bottle but better than usual!), eaten breakfast, and been to the dentist - all was good, just a quick clean and six month appt.

Got to work this afternoon but will make a healthy dinner later and go for a walk this evening.

What little steps have you made today?

Good to see so many of you on board, we all deserve this.
Scary dentist visit done, all surprisingly fine. One thing ticked off!
Have a bottle of water with me while I work, have remembered to take blood pressure and thyroid tablets Hmm
Will walk later and am cooking some kind of plant based meal for dinner, not sure what yet but I have a new cook book.

After being ill for so long I’m finally starting to feel Bright enough to even try.

I have booked myself swimming for Wednesday evening, started drinking more decaf in the afternoons as I’ve been worried about my heart and I’ve got a hair and nail app for Friday to make me feel more girlie before my holiday 😄

Hi everyone - nice to hear your self-care tasks!
I'm doing better...

  • Wrote down a load of negative /catastrophising thoughts I have, followed by the opposite sentence to try and remind myself of positive things e.g. I am a failure - I am a success. Only meant to write a couple and 3 pages later...
  • Had my multivitamin plus extra vitamin D tablets.
  • Been cooking myself things from scratch. I need to lose a bit of weight but they're not necessarily calorie controlled just fresh ingredients and something new to invigorate my tastebuds instead of mindlessly having the same old dinners.

It feels good to be taking charge of my self-care a bit.

Well done on getting to the dentist. Isn’t it weird how things you put off for so long are so easy once they’re done!

I name going to start getting to bed earlier - tricky as ds7 is still up multiple times a night, I think I stay up in the evening to feel I’ve had a bit of time to myself. Also trying to drink more water from tomorrow!

Can I join too! I’m going to book a hair cut!!! It seems criminal to spend so much on me, but I do look scruffy. Also all my clothes are ore 16 yr old dd. So I am going to Chuck the most depressing ones and Buy Some More!

Can I join you? I'm feeling ill and run down. Need to lose half a stone and get exercising. Just need to start caring for myself! Yesterday I ate a whole tube of Pringles!
I started last night by moisturising my feet (!) and putting a clarifying treatment mask on my face. Today I'm going to drink lots of water and do a simple exercise routine. Can't go out for a walk as I'm self isolating (I was pinged!) Will eat healthily and tidy up my nails. It's a start!

Hello, can I join too?mi need to stop putting everyone else first and putting me way down the list so I’m hoping this thread might help! Today I insisted we do something I wanted to do ( away for 2 nights) and didn’t drink the wine Dp offered me. Well done to you all too. It’s hard to do!
