Or celery and houmous?

Or neither?

Looking for some healthy snacks that are actually nice....

Celery ugh.
How about pb straight from the spoon.
Those multi coloured mini peppers are nice halved and filled with Philadelphia or pb.

jellybe · 25/07/2021 22:42

Pb on celery is yummy. It is also brilliant on slices of apple. Not sure how health pb is though.

Powertothepetal · 25/07/2021 22:53

Celery ugh
I agree!
But seriously, I can’t go on like this.
Im morbidly obese and just feel awful (not just in terms of appearance, I never feel ‘well’)
I need something to replace crisps.
I prefer carrots but they are quite high in sugar.

Try fasting, OP - it's the best way to stop thinking about snacks. 18:6 is very good for that.

FlibbertyGiblets · 25/07/2021 22:56

Ah in that case celery for the win.

Tell us about your overall plan, are you planning on low carb, or using the small plate method, calorie counting etc, loads on here can help you.

DrWankincense · 25/07/2021 22:57

Both.
Or cucumber and houmous?

HollowTalk · 25/07/2021 22:57

There are some great YouTube tutorials from women who've done it.

PinkSkiesAtNight · 25/07/2021 22:58

Celery and peanut butter, with a few raising dotted on the top. We used to call it 'ants on a log!'!

PinkSkiesAtNight · 25/07/2021 22:58

*raisins

AugustRose · 25/07/2021 23:00

Not sure about celery but on apple slices it is wonderful, I'm a recent convert and eat it as a snack.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/07/2021 23:08

PB on celery with raisins, yum, ants on a log!

I’m not sure I can tbh.
I eat mindlessly, I eat when stressed, when bored, when happy...

I’m planning on just swapping unhealthy foods for healthy foods.

Replacing crisps, chocolate, cake etc with low fat healthy alternatives.

Aside from junky snacks like crisps and chocolate my diet really isn’t too bad, I’m vegan so my diet is largely fruit, veg, nuts and seeds.

I have some tablets from boots that reduce the amount of fat and carb absorbed from food too.

Or cucumber and houmous
Can’t do cucumber I’m afraid.
I can’t stand the stuff.

I have both celery and peanut butter in the house and I will not put them together.

Cute little celery batons, with similar cucumber and a little carrot. Tasty, crunchy, no peanut butter.

Another great snack is spinach. Raw. When nice and fresh it crunches like crisps. It's easy to enjoy (after the first time).

Sweet peppers are good and crunchy. Slice them but don't put anything greasy on them.

DoingItMyself · 25/07/2021 23:16

No cucumber? Baton it and cut the seedy bits out. You'll like it much more.

youkiddingme · 25/07/2021 23:17

Both.
sliced apple is nice with peanut butter, but maybe not if you are counting carrots as too high in sugar - what's the diet plan?
Any of them with creme fraiche
Hard boiled eggs

SingToTheSky · 25/07/2021 23:18

I love celery with peanut butter (no raisins though). Also love apple with pb. And celery with Philadelphia is nice too.

FlibbertyGiblets · 25/07/2021 23:28

I hear good things about kale crisps, not had a go myself. They might hit that snacky spot?

mathanxiety · 25/07/2021 23:30

Try home pickled carrots and peppers. They're very tasty. There are recipes online.

You're not going to stick with healthy snacks that you don't like, so I would say go with the carrots. You can dip them in hummus.

Look up recipes for simple, natural snacks - grated carrot and apple with a little drizzle of honey for instance, or other dishes like roasted chick peas. You will need alternatives to crisps and choc that tickle your taste buds.

If you're thinking about peanut butter, make sure it doesn't contain partially hydrogenated oils.

BikeRunSki · 25/07/2021 23:33

Peanut butter is pretty calorific mind, go steady

fairyhouse · 25/07/2021 23:35

Low sugar works well when I can stick to it, so a squeeze of primula is good with celery. Also babybel, rice cakes and philadelphia, or marmite. I try and follow less than 3% sugar which is easier said than done but really helps keep my appetite stable. I'm a snacker too OP so I know how hard it is.

fairyhouse · 25/07/2021 23:36

The Sweet Poison Quit Plan is a book which helped me. Might be worth a read.

Sheldock · 25/07/2021 23:42

PB is full of calories, steer clear...and nuts in general if counting calories.

Mini-babybels (not good if vegan though), slices of Quorn, Quorn or soya sausages, coconut alpro 'yoghurt with raspberries/fruit and then frozen to be like ice cream,

ScrambledSmegs · 25/07/2021 23:55

Fasting is a surprisingly easy way to control mindless eating. I'm a snacker, but doing the 18:6 really helped me stop.

When I was in diet mode I used to have some seaweed, the stuff they wrap sushi in. I don't actually like it so I never ate very much. It's probably a bit drastic though, and redundant if you have a fridge close at hand.

Celery is the devil's food.

ScrambledSmegs · 25/07/2021 23:56

Or 16:8. How did I muddle that up? Blush

Powertothepetal · 26/07/2021 00:01

Love them!
And google tells me I can make my own in my air fryer....
