Cricket Convert!

I don’t think I’ve ever watched more than 5 mins of cricket before this week, I always thought it was boring as sin. Caught one of The Hundred games & I’m a convert! I’ve really enjoyed the games so far. I don’t think I’d have the patience to watch an all day game, but I like short form.

Yes, I’m enjoying it too. I sit through T20 if DS is playing, but definitely not the loooooong games.

LubaLuca · 25/07/2021 18:46

I used to go to see evening Twenty20 matches years ago. They were brilliant fun - a much faster and more exciting pace, and the beer flowed of course Grin

I haven't watched any of the Hundred games, I'll have to make sure I catch some, see if I can get back into it.

SouthOfFrance · 25/07/2021 18:48

I've enjoyed watching them on TV too, and they look like they'd be really fun and family friendly to go and see live as well.

Who is everyone supporting?

I have always loved cricket and spend a lot of t8me watching all the formats. It’ll be fabulous if the 100 which is a brand new format gets a new lot of cricket converts and raises the profile of the sport.

Smokeahontas · 25/07/2021 18:53

As such a recent convert, I’m still neutral (for the time being!)

Hooray! Smile

This is exactly what ‘the Hundred’ is designed to do : bring new audiences to cricket. The fact that the game is back on live, free-to-air TV and that all the franchises put out men’s & women’s teams is fantastic.

Keep watching and enjoy!

newnortherner111 · 25/07/2021 19:28

It is not proper cricket. I want to see the 50 over game and test matches back on free to air tv, not the joke game that has been on tv this week. Not even based on some of the historic counties.

Pleased to say unplanned I saw my first women's 50 over game in June, and the standard especially of fielding was excellent.

Smokeahontas · 25/07/2021 19:47

Out of interest, why don’t you like it?

It is on the telly here non stop-

My DS very excited to have just managed to get some tickets for a match in august at Lords.

Very exciting that they are selling out.

And great as it is for 2 matches so they watch the women first.

We are all cricket mad anyway but think it is bringing in new fans which is fantastic

DappledThings · 25/07/2021 19:53

It's the gateway drug OP. Don't worry, you'll be enjoying full 5 day test matches before you know it. Welcome to the family!

Floralnomad · 25/07/2021 19:56

I’m an avid cricket watcher , all forms but I really can’t get into The Hundred at all , I hope people new to the sport give the other formats a try as well . The Indian premier league is the highlight of my TV watching year !
