How can I clean my sofa?

After life in lockdown and becoming mummy to a now 15 month old, my sofa is disgusting. The fabric cant be removed but theres stains all over it so it needs cleaning. Im embarrassed by it. Its 8 years old and will eventually be replaced, but it really needs sprucing up a bit. Does anyone have any hints or tips? We got a steam cleaner but tbh it just made it a bit soggy with no cleaning benefit at all. Any help welcome!

I used to have a velour type sofa and would get a bowl of soapy water and an old flannel then would wipe over. For stubborn stains I scrubbed with a nail brush. It would be quite wet so I would towel it til dryish. Obviously I couldn't use it til it was properly dry.
You could also use a hair drier.

I found a company who professionally cleans them on Facebook! Cost me £40 to have it cleaned and they did a fab job.

Toddler then puked on it that very same night 😂

But yeh, I'd get someone out to clean it if you can afford to.

We not have blankets over the sofa all of the time to avoid it becoming too mucky whilst he's still a toddler.

Dr Beckhams carpet stain remover

It's in a bottle with a scrub at the top. But make sure you clean evenly. It works really well.

It's not a steam cleaner you want but an upholstery/wet vacuum cleaner. You fill it with detergent and spray the sofa, then can change to vacuum and vacuum all the water out. You can often rent them at dry cleaning places or DIY shops.

We hired a local company, we have a corner sofa and matching stool and they did an amazing job!

I use a damp cloth with warm water & bio washing powder.
It will be a bit damp for a few hours but it does get rid of the dirt/ stains.

(I do mine regularly as with kids and dogs it would be grubby in no time!)

I bought 2 sets of sofa covers on Amazon and I swop them once a month while machine washing the other set..
