Anyone tried 'Wild' deodorant?

Just that really. I'm thinking if buying some as it's refillable and so less plastic waste. Has anyone tried it and does it work?

I keep seeing this advertised on Instagram…. Interested to know too

LER83 · 25/07/2021 12:55

I've been using Wild since about February. I do like it, but be aware you still sweat, so takes getting used to! I find it works smell wise though. The only thing ive noticed is I get quite a few spots in the underarm area now, never got them when I used Mitcham. I might just be a bit sensitive too it. Overall I really like it, lasts a long time and smells lovely! My husband is a total convert to nuud if you wanted another option.

I keep seeing it advertised and I’m intrigued. Upfront costs are high though, since there’s usually a variety of Dove/Sure roll on for £1. No one ever said environmental ethics were cheap though.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 25/07/2021 12:59

It’s ‘deodorant’ not ‘antiperspirant’ so you’ll still sweat and feel wet, deodorant will just perfume the wet sweat. Fine if you aren’t a sweaty person but no good if you exercise or in high summer, really

pennysays · 25/07/2021 13:00

Yes I've used it - it works during the day but by the evening I start to smell. I gave up on it for the summer but might go back to it in the winter as I love the concept and everything is good quality.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 25/07/2021 13:00

I have literally just started using it this week. I am using one of the new sensitive variants, with no bicarbonate of soda, as I've tried other eco deodorants in the past which have irritated my skin.
So far I really like it! Just been for a walk round the park and it's humid and sticky but I still smell fresh.
I was using the Salt of the Earth crystal previously though so I think I have adapted to not using antiperspirant. The Salt of the Earth is brilliant, by the way, but it's unscented and I fancied something with a scent for summer.
If anyone does want to try Wild I think I cam do a referral so you get the case (usually £7) free. PM me if interested!

SwanShaped · 25/07/2021 13:02

If you want plastic free, then I can recommend AKT. It’s antiperspirant as well as just a deodorant. Pricey but it’s lasting ages.

coffeeneeded · 25/07/2021 13:03

Tried it- lasted two weeks. Gave up. Didn't do anything. Still sweated and it smelled.

Sad times.

kerosene20 · 25/07/2021 13:04

I’ve been using it for 6 months, as are my DH and DS. We all love it. You do sweat but always smell lovely 😊 the sea salt and cotton one is gorgeous!

IBuyPestoAndThatsOK · 25/07/2021 13:05

I use Native - it's not refillable but it is in cardboard packaging. No dampness when using it.

gildalily · 25/07/2021 13:14

Thanks for this. I'm off to have a look at some of the alternatives.
@IToldYouIWasFreaky I might be in touch - thanks!

I use it as ordinary Dove/Sure made my underarms really itchy. I find the smell lasts really well and personally I am less wet under the arms - not sure why that should be. The cotton and sea salt is fab!

EishetChayil · 25/07/2021 13:18

I'm put off by their relentless social media advertising. Same with Estrid razors.

BridgetInHerBravery · 25/07/2021 13:28

I tried it after recommendations on here and it was crap, made my armpits smell utterly vile, have returned to Salt of the Earth which works well for me.

SwanShaped · 25/07/2021 13:29

The AKT ‘after thunder’ one smells so so nice. Think it’s £18 for a tube. Which will probably last about 6 months maybe?

Aurea · 25/07/2021 13:36

I took a subscription to Wild and used it for around three months.

I wasn't really very impressed. The deodorants fragrance was very weak which was a shame. It left residue on my clothes that wouldn't really wash out and left the clothes smelling a bit funky at the end of the day. My pits smelt ok but not exactly fresh and I still sweated a lot.

I've since tried two other brands which I MUCH PREFER.

Simply effective deodorant where you buy a jar and then purchase refills in paper wrappers to fill up the jar. This deodorant is much more effective and smells absolutely LUSH (especially fresh fragrance).

Another fave is AKT which is about as perfect as you get but is pricier.

I wouldn't go back to regular deodorants now.

I have Wild, on my second refill. I’m finding I’m a bit smelly end of day and also after a shower I sometimes have to rewash my pits.

I had been using an alum crystal which works really well but I keep dropping and shattering, hence switching to Wild. I used Ben and Anna before that which was brilliant but it’s expensive and the cardboard tubes didn’t work especially well, got messy using the last bit.

I find the natural deodorants without antiperspirant work best if you wear natural clothes. Polyester and poly cotton not so much.

I’ll stick with Wild til I use up the refills I bought. Hopefully will get better.

Fjorduk · 25/07/2021 16:24

Another vote for AKT, it really works!

Namechange183 · 25/07/2021 16:39

I can highly recommend Weleda, glass bottles only so recyclable and stops any underarm smell. You will still sweat but we're supposed to!

Have used it most of my adult life, Rose scent is particularly nice.

gildalily · 25/07/2021 18:07

Thanks everyone. I like the look of AKT and I'm going to look at Weleda now too.

Been using Wild for several months and really like it. it works differently but I smell OK except for when I would be smelly anyway.

Same here. Welda for the win. Have used the sage one for 20+ years, always go back to it as it works great.

I also tried Wild and found I smelled at the end of the day plus the bicarb base made my skin itch. It also made the underarms of the clothes smell so odd I could never wear anything twice, and I could do before. Not for me. Shame as some of the scents (Lemon Meringue pie especially!) are amazing. Some less so, peach bellini was like a gross air freshener...

RhubarbTea · 25/07/2021 18:21

*Weleda, that should say!

sallyjuliet · 25/07/2021 18:27

I use Wild and even on really hot day I don’t smell by the end of the day. I’d really recommend it and all the different scents are lovely. It’s the best deodorant I’ve ever used!
