Centre Parcs - code brown

99 replies

Northernlurker · 24/07/2021 19:21

So I'm guessing there are other mumsnetters at the centre Parcs this weekend which has just had a code brown closing the whole pool. We hadn't it even got in! (Could have been worse 😀)

So that's annoying. Really annoying. If you child isn't well don't take them to a fecking pool. If your child is young use a swim nappy and maintain vigilance. How hard can it be?

@IHaveBrilloHair

Is it bad to be wondering if this was an adult who had tried the erm Centerparcs thing for the first time?

My child shat herself in a pool abroad once. Very upmarket country club sort of place. Wearing a swim nappy but leaked. Wasn’t too much so managed to scoop the kid up and wrap her up in a towel while husband forced the bits of poo towards the drains. No one was any the wiser but have felt mortified ever since looking back that we didn’t report it.

@MotherOfDemons you can get them on Amazon.
Anywhere we take DS for swimming lessons insists on the double nappy.

Be thankful it wasn't a soft play place in the ball pool & down the slide.

Oh god! Which center parcs are you at? I hope it clears in time for you to go in the pool.

@anormalperson

Oh god it's a good thing they closed the whole thing. We were there a few years ago and someone shit in the pool and they only closed part of it 😱 we all got bloody norovirus.

We all caught norovirus from Centerparcs once too. Absolutely horrendous and when we asked for advice from the medical centre they blamed us for bringing it in with us (we didn't, as it happened toward the end of the week).

We were at haven when a child pooped on the waterslide, they closed it for ten minutes whilst they fished it out 🤢. Luckily the waterslide was separate with its own tiny pool so we didn’t use it.

Imagine if there was a turd in the Rapids at Center Parcs..... they'd never fish it out with a net it'd be going too fast 😂😂😂

We have just been to a caravan park with pool. Only managed to book three sessions to swim. Missed first and we weren't back from day out. Made second, just leaving for third and electric in caravan went out. Got to complex to find it was whole site. Walked back to caravan and say down for power to return. Went back to pool but only 25mins of session left. Life guard said to come back for 5pm session as it was usually quiet and although they were still only booking 23 in, they were allowed 60. Got back at 5 to find pool closed as someone had been sick in the pool 🤮

Poor kids managed 1.5 sessions swimming all week - thank goodness for the beach!

It could have been an adult that accidentally gave themselves a colonic irrigation hitting the water too hard at the bottom of a water slide. Just a thought.

What is it with kids shitting in pools?
We are booked on a Disney cruise in a few weeks, the Facebook pages were moaning that two kids managed to shit in both pools at the same time, so there was nowhere in water for the children to play!

Swim nappies people! Swim nappies.

It might not be for long.

I went to centre parcs in Brandon, Suffolk, when they first opened. I remember we had to leave the swimming pool because - wait for it - there was a fire in the swimming pool! We had a laugh about that, didn't see anything.

It was OK later.

Omg, which CP?

We're at one right now (Woburn). If it does happen to be this one, where did the 'incident' take place do you know? Thanks!

TbF we were once at a council run pool, and there was a whole fully formed log at the bottom of the pool. They literally just cleared people out of the pool, used a fishing net to scoop it out, then let everyone back in. Everyone was Shock

Reminds me of waterbabies.

We had a few “incidents m” (I was a parent - DS now 11 - very relieved to say he never did it Grin ).

I remember a poo incident. The teacher got her special little fishing next (kept in a bucket next to the pool), fished it out, yelled “it’s ok, is is all solid!!! Get back in the water!!” And then we prepared for the u dewater swim Shock

Water babies: some of the loveliest memories and some of the less loveliest memories Blush

You do know they don’t actually clean the pool. They just scoop the poop 💩 and allow some time to pass

Oh god, I’ve been there, at a birthday party with one of those wave machines. Me and dd were stood in the shallows when not a child sized log floated past. We all went a bit tonto when the staff just scooped it out. No one else seemed bothered.

When DD was 2 she had a coughing fit in the pool and was sick. Luckily for the pool I was stood up holding her and it all went straight down the front of my swimsuit 🤢.

Indeed, OP, it could have been worse. Have you seen that particularly horrific episode of Benidorm?

I used to work at a swimming pool and poo in the pool was an extremely common occurence.... and the majority of incidents were actually adults having accidents rather than children! We even had a few instances where teenagers did it on purpose 'for fun'.

It's pretty much put me off public swimming pools for life!

Paid a fortune to go to some holiday club in Majorca when DD was small. Most horrendous place ever culminated in DH contracting a kidney infection and spending 4 days in bed with daily GP visits due to swimming in the man made harbour area which had poo discharged into it.🤮🤮🤮
