Any other MN'etters stuck in the M1 J21 queue

We hit the queue about 4.45pm and have barely moved since. People are out their cars, one lady is stood on the carriageway feeding her baby.

DH and the kids are going stir crazy.

Oh that sounds rubbish. Have you got water? My friends were stuck in that M25 block the other day they said it was horrendous

No, nothing. We were just an hour away from home. Dropping my eldest at her Nans, luckily we had a decent size lunch there as I cant see us getting home till very late now.

Havent moved at all in AGES!

Emergency services are currently dealing with a Serious road traffic collision on the M1 North Bound J21 - 21A near to Leicester Forest East Services.

Traffic is currently standing. 1 vehicle has overturned and breached the Central reservation.

All traffic has stopped on both North and South Carriageways.

Leicestershire Fire and rescue has said 14:37 - “Road Traffic Collision involving 1 articulated lorry and 2 cars.

North Bound carriageway is completely blocked and the south bound carriageway there is currently 1 lane open.

One person is trapped and numerous casualty's. Police, Fire, Ambulance and Air Ambulance are in attendance.”

Happened around 2PM apparently. Northbound is now open and running freely.

Some news pages are saying the road wont open till 11pm.

Blimey, that sounds awful. Feel for anyone caught up in that. Thank goodness it is not as hot today as earlier this week (assuming your location has changed its temp like mine has today)

Oof sympathy OP. We were stuck on the M5 on Saturday for an hour, and that was bad enough. We've travelled up from Devon to Yorkshire today, the amount of numpties and actual dangerous drivers on the motorway is terrifying.

Pregnant lady has just gone up the wooded embankment, I'm assuming to pee. Numerous other ladies are following. Wish I could join them but period day 1 means it'll be too messy.

Ooooh ooooh, we just moved. Only about 300 metres but still......

How horrible for you all .. does remind me to pack a bag for the boot for these sort of things.

The whole journey should only take 2 hours, but lesson learned. If I'm going on the motorway, pack supplies!!

We got home at 9.30pm. My friend was a junction behind us & didnt get home till 11.45pm.

Nearly 5 hours from hitting the Q. Urgh. That's epic. I bet there are a few tales from people caught up in that, imagine all the things that people were late for or missed.

My M1 pb is 10 hours to do a 2 hour journey. The traffic was slowing up as we approached services so pulled in, went to the toilets and got supplies and got back on the carriageway half an hour later amongst the same cars as we'd left. Then spent 8 hours going nowhere.
I then collected the relative and had to do the 2 hour return leg.

I've also spent 5 hours doing a one hour round trip to the retail park one junction up. 2.5 hours to get there, and as long again to get home via the gridlocked backroads. Just as I was getting on the motorway a man who'd just murdered his ex-wife decided to inflict the deed onto a poor lorry driver who stood no chance. It was clear by 1pm that I needed to be making calls to get DS picked up from school. Managed to pick DS2 up from nursery in time at 5pm but I was getting nervous about that.
