Help. Lunch ideas for a plain eater and an adventurous one

Got my parents coming for lunch. They aren’t precious but dad likes food plain and simple ( greasy helps). Meat, chips, veg.
No garlic, sauces or runny foods (quiche is a step too far).
Mum will eat anything after years of dull meals with dad.

Any help with a nice lunch that isn’t a roast?

Side of salmon with buttered new potatoes, spinach, rocket and watercress salad.

You could do individual salmon fillets and season yours more interestingly and your parents' not at all?

Shakshuka, hummus, baguettes, Israeli salad, cheese beurekas. Make him a separate egg so he can avoid the shakshuka if he wants.

Good sausages, boiled new potatoes, salad, crusty bread, cheese followed by fruit salad and cream or ice cream.

maybe something like chicken in a garlic cream sauce (or some other sauce) but do a piece of plain (fried) chicken for your dad. Serve with rice and veg. (or put on a few chips for your dad if he won't eat rice)

I was going to suggest something middle Eastern, mezze type selection.

After all, part of it is literally meat, chips, bread and salad, and you can add hummus, falafels and another thing or two (Baba ganouch?) so it is more interesting for your DM.

Just make sure the things your dad will eat are only mildly spiced and garlicky

Love the Israeli theme. Hummus has garlic but mum loves it so that could work but shakshuka looks too eggy for my tastes actually. Salad and cheese beurekas sound doable.

I think sausages are a good bet too. My butcher does amazing ones - I can get more interesting ones for mum.

Thanks all. They always send me into hosting panic. They’re my parents so crisps and sandwich would do them but I just can’t!
