Not even attempting to be stealthily boasting - full bhuna here:
I have always put out bird food but Santa brought me proper birdtables, one for the back garden and one for the front. I bought sunflower hearts because I was fed up of weeding the discarded seeds that sprouted.
The bird feeder was really busy all winter with lots of finches, it was really cold and I was generous with seed and fresh water.
This year we had a pair of gold finches, a pair of greenfinches and a pair of bullfinches feeding in the spring...and now we have a little bunch of fledglings of each of those coming!
It's costing me a fortune in seeds, but it is giving me so much pleasure to see my little "grand-chirps".
