New home holiday feeling

In the last few days I moved house from a three bed semi to a very large 4 bedroom detached set in half an acre.

We have been here three days and the house is palatial compared to my last place.

Everyday I'm waking up marvelling that I live here 😁

Does anyone else feel like this when they move? I feel like I'm on holiday and soon I'll be back home in my smaller house 😆

Oh yes 🙌🏻 we moved at the beginning of this year, I woke up marvelling everyday that this was now my home, it’s a new build do absolutely felt like a holiday let!

I still wake up everyday and just feel hugely happy this is now our home.

We moved 5 years ago to a house with a lake (ducks, Canada geese, moorhens and so many fish!) and every day I am amazingly happy that we have our own lake!

We moved 10 years ago and I still feel like this 😂

We moved a month ago and I hate everything about the new place (it is bigger and much more expensive, so I should have reasonably expected an upgrade!).

Everyone keeps telling me that it always takes time to settle in, but reading this thread in not so sure!

Is it a personality thing I wonder? Or have a actually made a bad choice and need to move again to get the happy factor?

Funnily enough though I do have the holiday home feeling. Just not in a good way 😁

We moved a month ago and I hate everything about the new place (it is bigger and much more expensive, so I should have reasonably expected an upgrade!).

I think that’s entirely normal, @WhereTheWildThingsArent. We bought a beautiful old house late last year and it’s been such a money pit that despite its gracious rooms and the fact I think it was the right house for us, my main emotion about it is mild despair about how much remains to be done to make it habitable!

To the miserable poster moaning it is a stealth boast ......I have had a shitty few years leading up to this. My post is a post of joy. Something that has been lacking because of bereavement, financial difficulties and trauma. Therefore, go and piss on your own chips, not mine 🤪

I moved from a rat run street, which had a pub at the bottom and people used to sit on my wall at 2am as it was half way up the hill.
It had cars parked both sides and people always parked over my driveway. Had horrible neighbours.

I downside to a two bed in a village in the middle of nowhere. So quiet. Lovely people live here ./. Say good morning when u pass them.
I have been here for 8 years. I am never moving and Everytime I come home abs turn into the village it makes me happy and I say out loud … I’m so lucky to live here.

Less impressive, but we moved from a tiny, and I do mean tiny, two bed to a large three bed and it felt like a palace. I finally had enough space!! It was magical.

Now 6 years on, I need a bigger house! 😂

We’ve been in our house almost five years and I sat on the grass in the garden the other day and had a ‘this is my house! My garden’ wow’ moment earlier in the week.

It’s not a palace, but it’s the perfect configuration for us and I still love it.

I felt like this too when we moved On paper house was so much better for us, and bigger, but I just felt so unsettled at first. Love it now, it feels like ours and we’ve done stuff to it. In our case I think it was also that new house was more in the countryside and so deadly quiet at night compared to where we’d come from. The silence was sort of deafening!

I moved into my first home a while back, 2 bed flat. I couldn't believe it was mine, I walked from room to room for months.
