Dh company are looking to send him to Houston. I'm not so sure we'd get on so well there as we do in the U.K.
He is white and I am mixed race (brown) and we have mixed race dc who look like me. Will this pose a big problem to us as a family if we move there?
I'm happy to move abroad from the U.K. but don't want to end up worse off.

Houston is actually very multicultural compared to the rest of Texas. There are large Black and Asian (mostly Indian) communities there.

I came on to say the same. Very diverse.

There are some great school districts - do your research (schools are funded differently in the US) - which will be very family orientated. You get a lot of property for your money and friends there have a great quality of life that is active and outdoors ( think pool in garden, so many sports clubs and lots of great community facilities like outdoor pools).

Texas is not California or New England though - a much less liberal vibe which talks to some of your concerns. The gun laws are however very free.

Thanks, I am mixed race English and Indian, but culturally I only know British culture.
This is quite reassuring actually as I felt it wouldn't work mainly because I'd worry for our dc. Hearing there are good school districts is helpful too.
Not so keen on guns though!
