Anybody experiencing any thunder storms this evening?

Yes, have come to Dorset for weekend. Some amazing lightening and a few rumbles.

Somethingsnappy · 23/07/2021 23:35

I'm jealous! There is a weather warning here, but no sign of anything yet.

Waveifyouknowme · 23/07/2021 23:36

Yes, currently sat in garden watching the lightning, have overhang roof so only feet are getting wet, love it.

Somethingsnappy · 23/07/2021 23:40

@Waveifyouknowme, whereabouts are you? Love that your feet are feeling it too Smile

Garfunkle · 23/07/2021 23:40

Nope. Nothing yet despite warnings that storms due at 10pm

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 23/07/2021 23:44

Feck all here (mid Wales borders) does seem to be a little cooler though, Thank gods!!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 23/07/2021 23:48

Enjoy the storms for me please!

This is us. In Bridport. So muggy inside. I feel like running out in to the rain. The seagulls don't sound happy at all. 🙈
Somethingsnappy · 23/07/2021 23:53

Definitely run out into the rain, @NotanothernamechangeforMN!

Nothing here in London

DramaAlpaca · 23/07/2021 23:57

We had thunder, lightning and torrential rain here in the west of Ireland this afternoon. It's passed over us now and us probably on its way to you lot in the UK. It's noticeably fresher outside now, thank goodness.

Somethingsnappy · 23/07/2021 23:58

I feel let down. I get so excited, but they never seem to happen when promised.

I'm Dorset too. Have been sat in my bedroom with DS, lights off and curtains back. Not loads of flashes but enough to make it worth the watch. Even the rain is ebbing off now but it is still super muggy. There is a drain for the road outside my house so I can always hear how fast the water is flowing.

PurpleFadesToGreen · 24/07/2021 00:01

Lightning map is fun to watch where storms are going.

Waveifyouknowme · 24/07/2021 00:01

Dorset, its evidently all going down here tonight. Have had some excellent fork lightning but mainly sheet, haven't had any thunder for a while, still very muggy.

hoteltango · 24/07/2021 00:02

Just beginning to rain here in central Hampshire.

I've been keeping an eye on the lightning map, and just had to check because I thought I heard a rumble of thunder, but it was a plane.

CMSdividend · 24/07/2021 00:15

@NotanothernamechangeforMN We're Christchurch so the other end.

Somethingsnappy · 24/07/2021 00:16

@PurpleFadesToGreen. Thank you very much for that!

You lot are so brave! I'm absolutely terrified of thunderstorms, I'm lying in bed quaking with fear... and nothing has even happened yet!Grin Anxiously watching lightning map hoping it misses us here..Blush

CMSdividend · 24/07/2021 01:11

The lightning map is only strikes so doesn't count sheet lightning. There's none recorded on the map do Christchurch but the skies are lighting up with sheet and the thunder is a rumbling!
I'm not keen on it, especially when I have been promising the 3 year old a dig on the beach tomorrow for ages 😫

MegaCityOne · 24/07/2021 01:50

Can hear distant rumblings. Nothing other than that - Winchester area

APJ1 · 24/07/2021 03:02

@PainterinPeril Anxiously watching lightning map hoping it misses us here..

I'm the same, I've always been scared of thunderstorms. It's made worse when I'm with anyone who finds them fascinating and wants to look out the window, marvelling sights and sounds. "Wow, that was LOUD!" etc Yes, I noticed.

whatsthestory123 · 24/07/2021 03:04

it's 3am Bournemouth and have had lots of thunder/lightening/torrential rain the last couple hrs

we normally miss a decent storm but looked like it was our turn tonight

StCharlotte · 24/07/2021 03:08

Nothing here in Surrey but it was blowing a hoolie earlier. When I disposed of a frog (thanks cats) the doorstep looked autumnal with loads of leaves on it.

harverina · 24/07/2021 03:20

I’m in Scotland and Alexa told me today that there would be thunder storms - seems she told me a big fib as we’ve had none so far. It is cooler tonight than it was though.
