October half term UK - where to go?

Dc 8 and 6. Kids Not big walkers although always tend to enjoy it once we’re out. Helps to dangle the promise of a cafe at the end of a walk etc. I really want to go to the Lake District but wonder if end of oct will just be miserable and wet and my kids will end up whinging.

So...is there anywhere people would really recommend? Maybe somewhere with an on site pool so rainy days are covered?

Doesn’t have to be the lakes, I’m up for exploring anywhere!

Dorset perhaps? A little more daylight and a couple of degrees less cold might mean happier children!

We've done the last two October half terms in the North Lakes (10 mins outside of Keswick in a very quiet spot)

Two years ago the weather was lovely and dry all week apart from a single rainstorm. Last year it rained relentlessly all week and got soaked several times.

Still we both had a lovely time on both occasions. We have felt its paid to have a decent accommodation and like just chilling there, playing board games, reading, watching tv etc too.

There aren't many hotels with pools in the Lakes, I think there are ones in Bowness and Keswick from memory.

Thanks both!
@newnortherner111 is there anywhere in particular you’d recommend in Dorset? It would definitely be much closer for us!

@yoshiblue I think you’re right about good accommodation as you may end up spending quite a bit of time in it...

Moonfleet Manor near Weymouth is part of the luxury family hotels and they have a pool, indoor football pitch and kids club. We haven’t been for a long time but it was great when we did go. There is lots to do in the area too.

Ah...I think I’ve stayed in one of their sister hotels in the new forest. I’ll have a look, thank you!!

Nowhere in particular to recommend in Dorset, as used to stay at a friend's in Bridport. They have since moved.
