Shot in the dark - Ed Alleyne Johnson in York

I’m hoping someone who lives in York sees this and can offer a suggestion!

We’re visiting N Yorkshire for a week for our hols this year, and I’m planning a day in York. Then I remembered Ed Alleyne Johnson has sometimes busked there. A million to one chance, I know, but as I’ll be there anyway, and loved his albums in the 90s...

Can anyone suggest likely spots in York where he has been spotted, please, or even days, if he only busks w/ends, for example?

Thanks very much!

[I've also bunged this in the York local board, just in case]

I don’t think I’ll be any real help but when he is in York I’m pretty sure he mostly busks on Parliament Street, I may have also seen him on Davygate in a little square next to Costa coffee. I’m not sure on days but I reckon Saturday would be a good bet because if the footfall.

I’ve not really been into York since the pandemic started so I can’t say I’ve seen him recently I’m afraid!

Has he got a Facebook or Instagram page? Some buskers do.

I think I’ve also seen him outside All Saints church on Pavement. Just thinking, I’m sure there’s only certain places in York you’re allowed to busk so if you could find out theses places you could check each one if you could be bothered! York is quite small and you’d likely pass all the places in the course of walking around anyway!

Thank you very much @Blackjackontherocks and @LizziesTwin - definitely really helpful suggestions!

I’ve never been to York before, so it’s good to know it’s small enough to get round the centre fully. I may map out your suggested locations online and devise a route to do a couple of circuits

Good call on the York city council busking guidelines - I’ve found them online but there are no fixed pitches, and they say staying more than two hours in one pitch is unreasonable.

His website seems to be defunct, sadly, but I’ve now found and followed on fb, so please keep your fingers crossed for me. Grin I’m going to need an extraordinary amount of luck to encounter him playing, I think!
