Swollen feet, not pregnant but uncomfortable 😫

Today my feet have swollen and feel so horrible. I've been rushing around on my feet for the last 12 hours (infant school teacher trying to get everything done before the end of term). I've had comfortable open toe shoes on but my word, my feet are so uncomfortable now. Any tips to relieve them? Thanks

Forgot to add, my classroom is 28 degrees, is tiny and has been full of boiling hot, exhausted and bad tempered little people today.

Heat does that. Put your feet up and drink plenty of water.

Will do, thanks

I've never had swollen feet in my life until this week.

I can barely walk it's so painful. I've been drinking gallons of water, and keeping them propped up on piles of cushions this afternoon. Cold water in the washing up bowl has helped too.

Sitting with feet up now drinking a pint of water. Argh they are burning.

I can barely wait for the temperature to drop.

purplesequins · 22/07/2021 20:16

it's the heat.
drink something salty (stock cube & hot water) and put your feet up, higher than your head. a damp towel on you feet/lower legs will also help.

if it doesn't improve then you need to see your gp for investigations.

Facecloth soaked in cold water and wrung out, draped over each foot, propped up on cushions. It's the only thing that helps when my feet puff up in the heat. It's grim.

Yeah your feet need to be above the height of your heart. You can literally see them visibly drain.

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 22/07/2021 21:14

I don't know about seeing them drain. My feet have been way above my heart for nearly 2 hours now. My house is a complete state but I can't move around to clean it until this goes away! So I'm just surveying the mess.

Bring on the rain.

do some exercises as well. pull your toes towards you and back.
rotate your ankles.

good luck.

I have one of these which I bought from Argos a few years ago. Amazon now sells it and you may find it elsewhere- eBay etc.

It’s absolutely brilliant!

Same here, feet have felt swollen and tight the last couple of days. I had strappy flat sandals on and they felt so tight and uncomfortable I kept taking them off. As I was in work I could not immerse my feet in a bucket of water, but they do feel better if I rest my feet on a coolish tile floor.

Doodle2021 · 22/07/2021 22:05

Same here. I have rings around my ankles where my ankles have swollen and my legs have swollen. Urgh its rubbish
Lots of water and elevation of feed

Mine have been like this for years, I look like I have elephantiasis (sp?). Heat is definitely not helpful though, so hopefully yours will improve over the next day or so.
