How do I tell my 4&8 yo that I am not here purely for their entertainment?

I’m a teacher. I’m knackered. It’s also hot as Satan’s arse crack.

I have played for a bit. But now mummy just needs to lie down and not be guilt tripped.

How do I do this? How do I make them go and play together??

You wait about 6 years then they won't want you to play with them.

Help them build a den! Or give them things to build one with. This was always big hit with my kids and then I couldn't get them out of it! They wanted to play in it, eat in it, sleep in it! It was wonderful for a bit of peace and quiet Smile

Play dr and nurses and you could be the patient lying in the couch . I do this after nightshifts with my 4 yo

You be firm and tell them to go play together for X amount of time. It really is good for children to have some independence over their own play and get used to it. You just have to accept the inevitable chaos of the state of the house though!

Play hide and seek- get really good at hiding.
